Phil, my original Ural has been all over Oz and the only thing that has ever come loose or broken was the battery mount. I don’t use loctite either. ……Not so. Bolt was still tight but bracket broken. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I had forgotten the horn failure……🤣🤣

It's never too early to organize a long ride, especially when one of you is working and you are semi-retired. Next year's OCR or Off Centre Ride is at Arkaroola in the Gammon Ranges north of the Flinders Ranges 12-14 August. We visited there on the way to the 2004 OCR in Innamincka just a detour from Brisbane in order to get there. To be honest I can't remember seeing any Urals at OCR's they may have been there but I was taken by more exotic outfits, especially those who carried cold beer to be offered in the middle of nowhere. As a newbie 2023 GU since late July I thought those who used a trailer were taking the easy way out and should toughen up. But after riding down and back to Port Macquarie to the UAR, I get it, our locally made Just Trailer is being delivered in January! First long haul will be to Uralla for the riding part of the Karuah Rally. But I digress, I have already rented a cabin at the Arkaroola Resort, not many options, and a couple of days at Wilpena Pound in a tent, not a pup tent! SWMBO is flying in to Whyalla via Adelaide, booked as a reward flight on Qantas. We will stay overnight at Hawker Caravan Park cabins leaving the car and trailer there. Afterwards maybe a few days in the Clare valley testing. For those who have already done the Flinders and Gammon Ranges it is truly great riding in the Flinders/Gammon Ranges in all directions. It may be a bit more work on a Ural but on my 97' GS1100 it was exceptional riding with amazing views, it can only be better 20 years on. There are three of us trailering from SE QLD already and a couple more BMW 1150/1200 outfits who will ride all the way. This sounds great! I got my GU Ural mid last year but haven't had many opportunities to ride it yet. I'm based in SA an have been to the Flinders number of times on my GS (only a little one though G650GS). I'm still learning and getting confidence on my sidecar but this sounds like a great opportunity for my first Ural group ride. How do we get more info for this event? It there a FB page for it or will you post something closer to the date? Cheers Nat
