Probably does but do the all the riders? 😢 Ural is great on the bitumen..........the adventure starts on the dirt. The only 'hard luck' story with a Ural...........is not having one.

You've all talked me out of it, I'm going to stick to the tar, and bugger the new 2WD model Just looked at the ad for the upcoming Ural. The places I've had mine on 1WD have been awesome, they do come into their own on unsealed roads & tracks but 2WD opens up some real adventure possibilities. I wonder if they've gone all-out and given it a low range as well? Too much to expect - better come back down to earth. The only thing that turns me off is the thought of going through all the improvement mods AGAIN! Been there, done that. I'll stick with what I've got, at least I'm confident it's now fully sorted.

Hi Bruce, Interested to read of your CSR attempt. Yep corrugations can be a real bitch. Did the Oodnadatta track in19, along with about a million 4X$'s and vans causing major corrugats. I found the Ural skimmed across most of them about 80kmhs not too badly but does take its toll. My question is ... what NRMA membership did you have to roadside assist. Reason, I had to float my '19 model from Cobar back to Uralla because 2 drive shaft bearings on Alternator had completely disintegrated .This was on a brand new bike with only 5000kms on the clock. SKF bearings so you never can tell. I had only Classic Care road service and they didn't want to know about moving the bike with that coverage. I guess you had Premium cover. Would that be right. I could have fixed it myself if I'd had the parts and knew exactly the problem, but with such a new machine couldn't believe this was the case. Do any others have road side assist they are happy with? Hi Cyclops, yep, so called 'Premium' care. Allows for up to $3,000 worth of claims per year hence costing me $0. Got myself and the bike from Cobar to Lithgow, accomodation for one night and they even covered trailer hire so I could get the thing from home to Uralla for the warranty work to be done. Geez, looking back I was ambitious to think about doing the CSR! But you gotta have a go. Re-attempted the following year (2017) but got stuck in some deep sand while doing a side trip off the Stuart Hwy just south of Alice and that convinced me that Urals don't do sand very well and I amended my itinerary then and there. Did Wolfe Creek Crater instead - corrugations again were a shocker but I made it, even with a cracked final drive cover to fix when I got home. (There's always something to keep you on your toes with these machines).
