But Ross, I thought you bought your own tyres from Beijing Ben? Are you going to the Snowy Ride again this year? I think that I need to take Gerty this year, instead of the Thunderbird! Yep, I intend to go. Perhaps just for the day unlike last time, but we'll see about that. What will you be doing?

I'll go down on the Friday - bit of a ritual really!
We do a bit of a 'shop' in Jindabyne for beer and nibbles and then 'bunker down' in the Lodge in Thredbo for the night.
Quick ride around on the Saturday to get the obligatory stamps on the ticket and bolt back to the Lodge.
Disappear at a leisurely hour on the Sunday, back to Canberra/Queanbeyan.

Last year we had two nights at Dalgety pub. Expensive for what we got.
I wouldn't stay at Thredbo again, we don't like it up there so we were tossing up between Jindabyne or the pub at Berridale.
Not being part of a group on the ride I figure now we may as well save the money and just do it as a day ride - Bombala, Jindabyne, Thredbo and back home.

Hello Roscoau, Yes that was my new Tourist on the very nice trailer. Curiously the Tourist has "Patrol" on the sidecar. Robert

Hi Robert, They do funny things with their model names - mine's got Gear Up on the side, but it's otherwise known as a Ranger? Go figure. Cheers Jimbo

Funny things do occur with names. "Patrol" is a US model, looks like a Tourist with the shiney bits, bench seat etc, but with two wheel drive. Gear Ups have black instead of shiney, solo saddle etc and are also two wheel drive. Neither are available In Oz, we just have Tourists and a one wheel drive version of the Gear Up, the Ranger. Sometimes the factory stick the wrong name on.

Mine's got "Bondi" on the side, and some people have asked if James 007 had anything to do with it! Nothing, except he probably got chased by one at some time in his long career.

Yeah, the 'model' changes depend on which accessories are fitted, which after a short time of ownership becomes irrelevant when you add your own touches.
