“Tassie Ural 5 Day Rip”Important...everyone should board the Spirit of Tasmania on the evening of Sunday 14 March in Melbourne arriving in Devonport early Monday morning.Accommodation in Tassie during March is booking out fast so do not hesitate making your bookings. Best to book directly by phone as you generally don’t have to pay a deposit. Book online and you will.
Day 1...Mon 15 March Arrive Devonport ride to St Helens via Bridport and Scottsdale 255kms Accommodation...Big 4 Holiday Park St Helens 03 63761290 www.big4sthelens.com.au
Day 2...Tues 16 March St Helens to New Norfolk via Triabunna 266kms Accommodation...Junction Motel 03 62614029 (quote Ural for a discount) www.junctionmotel.com.au
Day 3...Wed 17 March New Norfolk to Strahan via Derwent Bridge 266kms Accommodation...Strahan Beach Tourist Park 03 64717468 www.strahantouristpark.com.au
Day 4...Thurs 18 March Strahan to Smithton via Corrina 243kms (this is a great ride on the Western Explorer Hwy with a lot of great dirt) Accommodation...Tall Timbers Smithton 03 6452900 www.timbershotel.com.au Note..I would have preferred Stanley for this night but they were nearly booked out.
Day 5...Frid 19 March Smithton to Devonport 147kms. This is going to be a cruisy day for us as some will be boarding the ferry in the evening for the trip back to Melbourne. There are lots of things to do and see after leaving Smithton which will take up the whole day. There’s a great breakfast place in Stanley and a great fish and chips place at Ulverstone. I’m sure we won’t get bored or hungry. For those staying on we are stuck with a night in Devonport to enable our next days ride which is a beauty. Accommodation..Discovery Holiday Park Devonport 03 64278418 www.discoveryholidaypark.com.au
Day 6...Sat 20 March Devonport to Stanley via Cradle Mountain, Hellyer Gorge 268kms Accommodation...Stanley Cabins and Tourist Park 03 64581266 www.stanleycabinpark.com.au
Day 7...Sun 21 March This is a day loop ride but we will end up at Smithton where we will be basing ourselves until the end of the trip. Accommodation...Tall Timbers Smithton 03 64529000 www.talltimbershotel.com.au Note...this is the same place we are staying at the night of Thur 18 March and a great place to access the West Coast and the Tarkine Wilderness.
Day 8...Mon 22 March Smithton day ride
Day 9...Tues 23 March Smithton day ride
Day 10...Wed 24 March Smithton to Devonport to board evening ferry to Melbourne.
Note..March is a difficult time to plan a ride like this as it is considered one of the better months to visit Tassie. This I have found out on our last 2 rides. You just don’t roll up to Tassie and say this is where we’re going unless you check accommodation availability. Every place we are staying at on this ride has available accommodation at the time of this posting. If for some reason when you go to book at the places I’ve listed and nothing is available then try somewhere else in the same location or Town. On other previous rides this had been the case and we have all met up for the next days ride. No one gets left behind.
Cheers Wheels😎
Edit..please keep in mind Covid is still with us and unforeseen changes could well occur. I am taking a punt that all borders will be open by the start of the ride!...let’s hope so!😎

Hey guys, We are just about to book the ferry and accommodation but just one question. Is a sidecar outfit charged out as a car or a motorcycle?

Should have read the instructions first! Typical bloke thing not too. I found the price for a sidecar so cancel the last question.
