All good Wheel we can stick to the plan, just offering help in anyway. I will contact a few down here that I know and pass on the Itinerary if they haven’t seen it or not on Forum Be assured Beffy we will be tapping all the local knowledge we can get our hands on from you guys and thanks for the offer of help. A bit of background...many years ago Robyn and I four wheel drove Tassie in our Troopy for 10 weeks then another two trips on our Urals totalling 6 weeks so fortunately have a fair enough knowledge of the conditions of both road and weather in Tassie. As a young soldier (19yo) a mate and I walked from Waldheim to Derwent Bridge via Cradle Mountain over 3 weeks carrying everything on our backs, this all before there were tracks. The highlight of that walk was summiting the highest mountain in Tassie Mount Ossa on Xmas day after snowing all of Xmas eve. Luv Tassie😃 At the moment there is no hard and fast plan on the routes between the “via’s” and to the destination on each days ride so local knowledge will be invaluable. Most riders definitely prefer the nicer less trafficked roads which I will endeavour to do, but there will time and distance constraints as well as rider ability to consider. No one enjoys being flogged half to death on a corrugated dirt road at 3pm in the afternoon with 100kms to go to ones destination and all can be assured that won’t be happening (that’s my long past Army training kicking in). Cheers Wheels😎

Cheers Wheels😎 We just finished the OLT in August, 7 days, and loved that hike also! First two days were in thigh high snow and I wouldn’t have had it any different..I know the feeling you are describing. on the touristy stuff so many places have opened up over the last few years and I keep getting surprises at what’s out there. look forward to being part of this ride and meeting fellow uralisters (?)..Beffy

The question was asked?....The answer was! The ride is strictly Urals only! The name “Tassie Ural 5 Day Rip” says it all. Cheers Wheels😎

A snippet from Dale.....
We've booked our accommodation for the 5 day rip. We decided to take Indy for a ride to Smithton today to check out our pub accommodation at the Bridge Hotel that we booked. It's a nice old pub with good value meals and accommodation for your information. It's a beautiful coastal ride from Devonport to Smithton as you probably already know.

Tassie Ural 5 Day Rip While things are still hot with the ride next March! I have completed the planning of each days ride (that is the 5 day rip) with the routes in the Zumo ready to go. I take sole responsibility for the routes and have taken into consideration the love of riding back roads both tar and dirt by Ural riders and passengers, time and distance constraints, alternative routes or deviations, weather variables and time for the coffee and lunch breaks that we all enjoy. The ride distances are not great each day, but with stops, a few back roads, lots of twisty’s etc time can get away so we must endeavour to cover ground when we can to get to our destination in plenty of time to fuel up, have a good look around our nights stop and just gather one’s thoughts prior to our next days ride. The ride is unique, and to some will be a challenge because we must ride each day, but it will also be a massive amount of fun as it always is when we ride our Urals and more so in a group environment. If anyone wants the GPX Route Files to put into their GPS’s please indicate that in a post on the forum and Lee will email them to you. As forum administrator he has your email addresses so you don’t have to put them up on the forum which is not a good idea. For those of us staying on after the 5 day rip I have not planned any particular day rides out of Smithton and the one night we have in Stanley, but be assured you will all enjoy what rides we all choose to do especially in the Tarkine Wilderness area, which is Jurassic and in some places very remote. Bobsie and I couldn’t get enough of the place when we were there but were very aware of the remoteness with just the two of us on our Urals. There was no room for error or breakdowns in a few of the places we were at but how good was it!👍 Cheers Wheels😎
