Evening gents, done some good reading here, I am thinking of getting a washable filter, are there any like dirt bike foam/oil available or just the K&N?
Those who have the K&N are they good?
Cheers Andi

...cleaning will be easier that trying to get one too. If you are not traveling in a pack of Urals, or following a lost Grey nomad, there will be less dust and less need to change out the filter or clean it. Carrying a spare dry filter will be lighter than carrying the cleaner and oil. Unless you are going 'very' remote Ural HQ can ship around Aust within a few days and the product is superior to any other dry filters on the market.

Alternatively, put the K&N in before you depart and take the stock filter as well. Use the stock filter when waiting for the K&N to dry. Depends a lot on where you plan to go and how long you will be "in the sticks" Back country road trains carrying cattle, grain or ore make an incredible wall of dust. In addition, the sheer volume of traffic on our outback roads has increased markedly. Courtesy of Covid.

Yeah all makes sense, was going to run the paper until dead then K&N it, will be riding solo moto for the most I think, some reasonably remote and lot dusty, we won't have three back up vehicles 😁.
Has anyone stuck a hose from air filter intake to the front of their bike to a cleaner air zone or is its current location up there pretty good?
Just not sure how much dust swirls around that point of entry from the front wheel etc.
Cheers Andi

Just checked the standard filter last week. Not too bad. It went back in. The cover is a real bear to get out and back in. Till I discovered the snorkle can be removed and refitted later. It is very snug. Tucked up behind the alternator. I did note in the Dyatlov pass movie, the air intake had a corrugated hose, which led into the boot for river crossings. Not sure how they did that. I also note that a special is being optioned up in Uralla with a remote primary filter. Overkill I think. Check the FB posts out of there. Not a lot of dust from the front wheel..Mostly, from vehicles ahead. If you can't see, drop back and ride on the windward side if you can.

Yeah I saw the same movie, also the funny "Ural testing " and river crossings. While we won't be doing that I did wonder about running a flexible tube to the front of the intake just to direct cleaner air but yeah looks fairly tight, we are back 24th (coupla weeks) so all will become apparent.
I always stay back from dust in front on our bikes here too so I can see and just avoid unnecessary volumes of grotty air going in the airbox.
