G'day all. I've just seen a Mikuni TM34 Flatslide Carburetor Kit on ebay to suit Ural 750's. While I have no real problems with my standard carb's , I was wondering if anyone has fitted the flatslides and what your experience with them was. Much improvement? Power, response, Fuel economy. Worth the $700 expense? Thanks for any replys..............................Ian

Put the $700 towards a Gen II EFI upgrade kit. 😇

A 2007 Ural with the kit installed. The bloke reckons the engine performance after installing the kit was dramatic.😎

Not sure I would run that exhaust in Australia, all the sparks would probably start a bushfire ! Frivolity aside, carbs are carbs and whilst some are pretty ordinary Keihin and Mik CVs are pretty good, not sure you would get $700.00 worth of improvement regardless of what carbs you fitted.

$1000US $1400 OZ for the above kit. Anyone moved from a carb outfit to a 2nd Gen EFI model? What is the most notable improvement you experienced? Rideability running through the gears, outright power, better highway speed, fuel economy. All of the above? As I said earlier the standard carbs a fine for my needs. I'd probably consider upgrading to a 19,20,21 2nd gen if one came up for sale close enough. Curious about how much better they are .............Ian

All of the above…….
Difficult to quantify “how much better” gen II is over carby models but there is a great improvement. Would I go back to a carby model ? If that was my budget I would do it happily.

Tune, modify and jet carb’s correctly, free up the exhaust system, give it plenty of air and that carb’d Ural will bolt, although somehow I don’t think you’ll be seeing to many of those outstanding looking EFI performing 2022 machines in your carb’d rear vision mirrors for long!….still, that half day of twisty corrugated dirt or tar can level things out a bit!….maybe just maybe it’s not the carbs or EFI that controls performance at all? 😎

Certainly didn't buy the Ural for it's high speed performance. It's running as should and I'm happy with that. Twin turbo's maybe, Hmmmmm

Certainly didn't buy the Ural for it's high speed performance. It's running as should and I'm happy with that. As long as it is running Put the $700 towards a Gen II EFI upgrade kit. 😇 Unfortunately Lee, he can't. The Gen II kit won't work. Carb Model - 2005-14 = M2 Boxer that Wheels listed Gen I EFI - 2014-18 = Ural Gen II upgrade Last time I spoke to Mat at Uralla he thought the Gen II upgrade was expected to be around $3000. No one had ordered one. Looks like it is a lot cheaper to upgrade the Carb Model but I cant see the value unless you have a very low km engine. Last word on Soviet Steeds was that there are new TB's on the shelf at Heindle and they are available, but I wonder how long that will last.
Once they are gone the only fix for a failed EFI system will be the Gen II kit or a new bike.
Anyone got a spare set of Gen I TB's?
