Does anyone know how this valve senses to stay open when the engine is warm? I am guessing it is heat-controlled within the valve itself (2022 model). thanks

There is no wiring going to or from the valve. Only a vacuum tube. Dont know how it heat senses either. Perhaps a simple bi metallic strip. Lots of condensate inside at some times too.

Reckon actuation would be from one of the O2 sensors, both to a vac solenoid for the valve and high idle to EFI. The valve is set up to "fail open" in that lack of a signal or a vac leak will see the valve remain open.

O2 sensors have nothing to do with the exhaust valve. They just send a voltage signal to the ECU relevant to the amount of oxygen that remains after combustion… ie. lots of oxygen = lean. No oxygen = rich.
Vacume from a throttle body closes the valve against spring force to aid heating of the cats from cold. The vacume is controlled either by a heat sensitive valve or directly by the ECU. I have not sighted a Euro 5 model yet so cannot be more specific.

Update for information. There is a valve under the seat that controls the vacuum to the butterfly valve. It is controlled by the ECU (temp dependent no doubt).

It probably reads off the sensor under the RH throttle body. It opens the valve at 80c. Though sometimes with mine, the valve doesn"t close for quite some minutes and does mot go into a fast idle at all. It spits and drips a heap of condensate too.

Mine isn’t working at all at the moment. Not sure when it stopped working, there is vacuum, but the valve/flap is continually open from cold. It also drips a bit of condensation when cold.
I doubt it’s a problem if it’s just a cat thing for the euro 5 conditions.

Understanding why its not working, might provide some assurance is won't fail in the closed position though.

I would never ever say “remove” it. That would contravene the ADR Emission regs……😜
