Perhaps some consideration for other automotive goods produced in places other than their country of origin. Toyota Hilux now made in Singapore and Mexico?. LDV has a high profile and is a consortium Landrover/Daf/Volkswagen made in PRC. MG is also now PRC. I am sure many others too. All have one thing in common. The need for cheap labour and high technology, able to change quickly to meet a demand. For Changjiang, that demand is yet unqualified, in lefty countries.Interesting times ahead. What about the "Mash" sidecar ?? ALSO the progression of the "Royal Enfield" from India. (Previously UK)

Some of you are lucky enough to own a motor vehicle produced in Kazakhstan... I will just let that sink in.

I have a German vehicle built in the USA………go figure. The Auto industry is truly a world thing these days. Our Urals have components from many countries as do just about every make. What is important is the sum total of parts and the human element of assembly.

Or are they similar to Hyundai/Kia where the build is supposedly 100% in house. Interesting indeed.

Ural is a 100% Kazac build…. I would bet you that there are dozens of companies that supply Kia. They may be Korean but outsourcing is outsourcing.
Had a stand uo “discussion” with a bloke that said you must use genuine Honda oil in a Honda bike……….well, Honda do not make or refine oil.

I believe frames and body parts are still coming out of Irbit to Kazac for assy.I think one of Ilya's blogs confirmed that. Toyota don't make oil either.

That's what I had been led to believe as well.
I'm riding one of the last Irbit builds.... feels nice to know that. Not that it makes a spec of difference to the way it rides etc.

So they are finally here and selling - changjiang-australia.com/10 grand cheaper than the Ural in a time where every dollar counts. Feel free to counter that with the 'mate of mine' comments and how bad Chinese stuff is

I think the Chang has much to offer. Particularly for folks not needing 2WD. Face it, most folks really don't. Only time will determine how reliable they are. I like 61hp, tubeless rims, 5 speeds and reverse. NOW is the time to bring back a single wheel drive Ural at a cheaper price point. Remember also, I think we are still paying for increased import duty via the Russia/Ukraine conflict. Not sure any of the above will occur until Chang infiltrates the USA and brings sales pressure to Ural in the US.and Eu.

They already sell them in the EU, Jean-Louis the French traveller on a Ural that some of you met when he was here last year, told me many of his sidecar buddies have bought them over Ural. I asked him how he was on our communications over the holidays - his Ural has been in the shop the past 3 months getting the engine rebuilt for the second time as it expired whilst out riding, so he's pretty frustrated. Told me he's spent twice the purchase cost of the bike having it repaired now. It's done about 100,000km.
