Infra red on the sump will do. I went a little more high tech. I might just be able to make this do the job. Thought about it a while back, and this thread just jogged my memory. I think the photos tell it all. Carport testing. BBQ Thermocouple set to medium rare + official Ural dongle. Idle to get through cat warming, then let it get to about 100 degrees C. Quickly shut down, remove dipstick and chuck the roasting thermocouple in. Give it a bit to record the max temp and there we have the CHT vs Oil Temp. Pity I can't drive with the BBQ wand in place. 😂 CHT = 110c. Oil = 57c The research continues. How about a dummy plastic dipstick plug, with a roasting thermocouple through the middle. Thoughts of permanent or data collection only ?? The thermocouple feeds to a battery powered station, then to a wearable reader. Bunnings about $40.

Aha the name has changed "Aizoma" vs Aizome" I note it is not threaded either. Will need to check length too. Ural is a dip stick. Not a screw in, to check oil. Thanks again Andi.

Good morning all, greetings from very wet Princetown. Update on the oil cooler, we did have a support bolt break off at Gary's on VARSTy, it appeared to be partially broken from crappy metal. Since then we manufactured new brackets (Thanks Harry) and this has lifted the cooler a little higher which will be better for airflow over the head. At VARSTy Lee put his infrared heat sensor on our oil filter and his after a wee climb, it was only 11 degrees so cool enough but our Euro5 engine was 45 degrees and Lees Euro4 engine was 60 degrees both at the filter. So, we are going to get an infrared temp reader and I will post up results from days of differing temperatures and speed to show real world differences. My gut feel is on a 22 north Euro5 bike these are very worthwhile and of course more so in the hotter regions.

Ok, some stats from today, we did get a batch of shitty 98 so included in the fuel mix is injector clean and methylated spirits for what it is worth.
Next few days will do similar 👍
