I have booked all on line except Derwent Bridge.......it is a phone job. As I thought.......I had worked out the cost of taking the caravan to be minimum $2500.00........CABINS came out a bit under that. You can camp of course if you wish to save a bit. Some of the cheapest cabins already booked out folks.........don't hesitate if you want to go.

Hello all, Great to see folks booking already. I see that the Lake St Clair Park/Lodge are not opening bookings until June. leave that one with me for a few days and I will attempt to coerce them into some other arrangement! By the way accommodation is super expensive there but they have what they call "Drumlin Bunkhouse" which offers bunks, doubles, twin share, all in separate rooms with linen supplied if you want. You share kitchen facilities and the shower and toilet block, so all sounds good for just one night. The cost for a double in Drumlin House is $120/night which is steep but it is the cheapest there by a long way. Remember they have a restaurant there and also tent sites. The reason that place is so popular and expensive is it is a Heritage listed wilderness area, and the end or start whichever way you are going of the famous Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair walk. That's the one I did back in the early 60's with a mate. We carried everything on our backs for 14 days and saw only one group of three people the whole time. It's not like that now! As I said before, leave it with me and I will get back soon. Cheers (Wheels)

Hello all, I emailed an enquiry to the Lake St Clair Tourist Park re accommodation in their "Drumlin Bunkhouse" (email attached) and it looks like we will just have to hang in until June. I don't think there will be a problem booking there BUT! there is a backup in the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel which offers accommodation (www.derwentbridgewildernesshotel.com.au) for those that are doing cabins. Apparently it's only 5 kms back up the road from Lake St Clair. For details, bookings etc in "Drumlin Bunkhouse" use (www.lakestclairpark.com.au) it leads you just about straight away to all the info you will need. The other website heads you to all the expensive accommodations! By the way Rob and I did all our bookings last night "alls good" Cheers Paul (Wheels) Drumlin Bunkhouse.pdf (79.91 KB)

Lee, there is a great day ride to Gordon dam that we could do from Snug Beach that we would otherwise miss out on, which would be a shame as its a true wilderness area and spectacular. It's a 386 Km ride there and back. What do you reckon?

They don't call you "wheels" for nothing do they...........that is at least 6 hours riding time.......probably a bit much for most people.
