Almost ever since I've had my Ural I have thought about fitting a cargo body instead of the usual passenger sidecar body. Now I think I might have found a suitable box at a very reasonable price. Supercheap Toolbox External dimensions are pretty close to the passenger body. Probably have to do without the rubber suspension, and the floor might need to be beefed up at the attachment points. What do you think?

Be handy for Norm on his trips to the Barossa.

Be handy for Norm on his trips to the Barossa. I never buy wine in the Barossa, I'm a staunch supporter of the McLaren Vale red. 4 dozen fit nicely on the rack, and another 4 or 5 dozen inside.

Well, so much for that idea. The box ix advertised at $500, but it costs $800 by the time it is freighted to Tas. Back to the drawing board, and the original idea of a plywood box....

The day Julie decides finally she doesn't want to ride with me I'll be looking at this kind of thing. Actually, get the track widening mod and a larger box to suit.

I looked at the track widening mod from Bruce Watson - it looks like a good thing, especially for accessing the left rocker adjustment. The problem is, you are still limited to a box 550mm wide - the space between the sidecar swingarm mount and the diagonal braces. Unless you want to get into cutting a recess into the box to fit around the swingarm mount, which is apparently what they did with the original Ural cargo body. Thanks for the heads up on that box on Gumtree, Lee. Very reasonable price, and only 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, it's 50mm too wide, and won't fit without expensive aluminium cut and shut mods. Aah, the joys of being a tight-arse.

Good luck with widening Fiona's track. I reckon Bruce's kit only works on 2010 and later Urals.
