Yesteday ride from Derwent Bridge to Black Hills via the Highland lakes mostly on dirt roads was great! A lot of logging trucks! and you better pay them the respect they are due! They are respectful good truckies and appreciate you getting off the road for them! If you donât you will pay the priceđ

Yesterdayâs ride was to Gordon Dam..lake Pedder the SW most point you can ride or drive to in Aust. It was a 283 km there and back trip...all bitumen...but cold, windy, twisty and steep but worth the effort. Spectacular ride! We were there in our Troopy in 2005 and camped at Tedâs beach on Lake Pedder and it rained and blew full on for 36 hrs straight. It looked bloody ominous for a while there yesterday but we got away with it...Lucky! as the weather in that area can go from good to bad real quick!

Couldnât help noticing a comment recently somewhere on the forum referring to Urals!! Quote....âIt doesnât always get you where you need to goâ...Unquote. Both Rob and I have done enough Ural kms over the years (Rob initially a passenger and now rides her own rig ) in some tough isolated country where you definitely DO NOT! want an unreliable machine! In our Tassie trip (our second on Urals) we have ridden in places that again were hard on your machine, isolated and definitely did not want to get stuck in! We have completed many rides and many kms with other Urals with their riders and passengers in areas that were not for the faint hearted and tough on your machine and our Urals always got us home. They are one tough reliable machine! and given the correct maintenance! carry the right spares! will not let you down! Jon Taylor said to me years ago when I was having a bitch session to him about some obscure teething problems I was having with my Retro!... âPaul! Ride them! Keep them a little clean! and have faith in themâ....never truer words!

A milestone for Rob today! She has ridden from Tassies West Coast to the East Coast. Did the tourist bit today and stopped over in Beautiful Richmond for a couple of hours. The bridge was built by convicts in 1823 and is as strong now as it ever was and reputably the oldest bridge in Australia.

Tassie done and dustedđ 2500kms over 3 weeks on some not so easy roads! logging tracks etc and both Urals poweringđ not a single glitch! Went where we wanted when we wanted and saw some spectacular country mostly off the beaten track but still enjoyed the touristy places that we missed out on last year. No place like Tassie for touring! especially so on a Uralđ Service both bikes today then riding and camping the Great Ocean Road later in the week then after Easter over to the Gawler Ranges SA to meet up with the gangđ

Well done on your trip, youâve given me confidence to push our Ural out there as well. Regards, Mark (Tas) Thanks Mark! nice to see you interested in our trip! You have a beautiful! diversified state to use your Ural in! Owning a Ural is all about using it! Donât do that and you will always be in the shed fixing up what you conceive as problems that may occur when you eventually get to using it as itâs meant to be used! They are Russian! They are reliable! They are fun to ride! and will go most anywhere you wish to take themđ Ride safely Mark and enjoy your machineđ
