Subtle, but distinct changes in Ural attitudes. I don't think for the better.
Is Ural ready for prime time? How far can they go before they lose the solid backbone of dedicated owners?

Now to source that OBDII cable And more on the oil - Given the machining tolerances, or lack of them, I can't see the need for Synthetic Oil. Some of the other forums I have read suggest that it runs perfectly well without oil anyway

Something went wrong there, that reply was meant to be in the Oil thread. Anyway, there are some anomalies with the service provided - like $50 for Gear Oils with nothing left in the boot to see what they used. Given there was just over 2 liters of Motul Twin Syn left I guess they didn't use that in the gear box. I haven't spoken to the shop yet, so I am reluctant to spill the beans just yet.

I split it off to it's own thread 'cause that seemed best. Perhaps not, but now we can talk about our experiences with Ural and still have an OIL thread. What Ural forum is complete without an oil thread.
It's the first time I've played with posts so maybe I should have left it alone?

Ok, no that is fine, I just thought I hit the wrong button. My current disappointment isn't with Ural or Ural Australia - I have had no issues with Ural Australia, I get the parts I order in a timely fashion. The move to Motul will be an American thing that we just have to live with. Given that the 'dealerships' in Australia are still reasonably small and specialist type businesses, I don't think we have much to worry about. When you see a new one open on a main highway that looks like a Har-Kaw-Suz-Tri-Hon-Yamazaki dealership, then we can all start worrying.
My current issues stem from a recent service, or lack of, but before I post up what happened I need to talk to the mechanic and give him the right to reply.

Re motorcycle service charge anomalies. I just had the first service ( for warranty ) done on my Honda Grom , $93.94 for labor is expected but the $15 for miscellaneous workshop sundries is a nice little earner when it's added to every invoice.

Holy crap!! I just saw the price of a new Sportsman - $28,170! The price has gone up around $11,000 since the end of 2009 when I got mine. Still, surely that has to make second hand bikes worth more as well?
That's plus on road costs... the day of the $30,000 Ural is on us.

As mentioned in my thread about my head repair Ural now recommend that if you have a problem requiring replacement of a valve guide or valve seat it is recommended that you replace the entire head.
It seems Urals are no longer the repairable machine they once were?
