I have about 2,000 kms on my 2019 Sahara. It steers beautiful and is purring along. The fuel injection is impressive and there is ample power. I took it for a ride to the Alpine Rally and met Ross at the rally. Thanks Ross for the tips on maintaining the Ural. I was sorry I didn't get to meet you Lee. I am sure we will meet somewhere down the track. We took the back road from Canberra to Adaminaby, both ways, which was a great ride. I had to slow right down on the rough bits as it felt like I could break something on the bike or have things come loose with the harshness. On the smooth dirt, at one stage I felt like I was on a Wasp motocross sidecar it was handling so good. I didn't fault the damping and felt the spring rates were right with the shocks all on the minimum preload. This is with a passenger and considerable camping gear on board. I did feel it needed more travel in the suspension for the very rough bits, although I consider what it has as adequate. I would prefer what I remember as long travel, soft springs and heavy damping on my air head BMW's, for keeping the speed up on corrugated roads. As this is my first sidecar I was wondering if anyone else with more sidecar experience has any comments on the 2019 suspension on rough roads. Maybe the new Ikon shocks would be better. Maybe with progressive springs that may help. Its a great ride, Steve

Steve, read my report (link below) re suspension..... The spring rates and damping as stock are a great compromise setting for the wide range of riding done on a production machine......doesn't mean it can't be improved, but it has served well for decades. On the rougher stuff -(corrugations) wind the steering damper on full and go faster. If it is very rough, of course you just have to go slower. Also sorry to have missed you. Caught up with the chap on the grey 19 and have promptly forgotten his name.......still trying to forget Ross' name .

Thanks for your reply Lee. We met Les on the grey 2019 Ranger and he was very generous in sharing a fine tasting port around the fire as we discussed our Urals.
It makes sense to me that the standard spring rates are a bit hard for the rough dirt but my thinking is that going to softer springs would be detrimental to the sealed road handling, which is something I don't want to do.
