Missed Rosewood again because I was down in Sydney for a few weeks, but I did get to see some great roads.
Shame about the fires. Had to plan the way back on an hour by hour basis, but as of this morning the Summerland Way was open again. Ellangowan forest had rain last night.
On the way down I had coffee with friends at Ocean Shores then headed out via Mullumbimby through Repentance Creek and down the back way into Lismore. Grafton to Coffs via Glenreagh then the M1 to Kempsey for the night. Left Kempsey thinking I would do a nostalgia trip down Plomer road from Crescent Head to Port Macquarie.
Unfortunately the road has changed since I last used it about 30 years ago, and I ran into a big sand run about 3k's out of Point Plomer campground. I had no recovery gear, and no sand experience and the weather was turning, so I chickened out and went back to Crescent and then onto Wauchope , Comboyne, Kliiabakh, Taree to Nabiac - didn't visit the museum. Then down the M1 and into Sydney.
While in Sydney I took my partner for a spin on the Wisemans, Gunderman, Spencer, Kulnura, Bucketty, St Albans, Wisemans loop. She liked it that much we did the Wisemans, Leets Vale, Lower Portland the long way because the ferry was out then through Colo, Upper Colo and out via the Comleroy Rd to Kurrajong then home.
I met Sandy Campbell from Staintune at Port Mac on the way home. He mentioned that they used to import Urals with the chair on the left, cut it off and fit it to the right. Guessing that was long before John Taylor got involved.
He also seemed to think a second balance pipe might be worth the effort as they get good results with the BMW's.
2,562 kilometers and the only problem was the horn bracket snapped.
I call that a success..
