Hi Just bought a 2015 model Ranger (Indy) in Brisbane and rode it home to Leith (near Devonport) in Tassie. Got caught in the pouring rain riding through NSW so I can vouch for the fact that these bikes are definitely waterproof! (See attached photo). No issues with the bike during the road trip apart from the usual FI surging that is apparently common on this model. May have to look at the Dobeck EJK to fix the surging issue. Has anybody in Oz done this yet? I know lots of guys in the US have done it with success. Will have to wait and check that the throttle bodies are correctly balanced first. Have met three other Uralistas in the NW of Tassie so far. Phil from Burnie on his wife Beth's 2019 slate grey Ranger, Bob from Penguin on his green Tourist and Buddy from Forth on his yellow 2014 Tourist LX. What a great bunch of blokes. I also met Dave on his brand new Sahara at the Kempton pub near Hobart about a month ago before I went to collect Indy. Looking forward to having a group ride soon with them and hopefully catch up with more Tassie Uralistas. Cheers Dale.

Hi Dale and welcome. I have met most of those folks and yes they are a great bunch, as are the majority of Ural owners 👍🤣 Just balance the throttle bodies and all will most likely be ok. Have a look here Dale. uralsinaustralia.freeforums.net/post/7211lee

Welcome glyndale60, No issues with the bike during the road trip apart from the usual FI surging that is apparently common on this model. Surging? If the XXOR1.03 fuel map is loaded then it shouldn't be an issue. There is a slight delay on throttle response after a long throttle off down hill but I have never noticed surging. Where did the previous Owner get it serviced? Both the agents in Brisbane have the capacity to load and confirm the new fuel map as well as balance. Balancing TB's in Tassie could be costly (if you don't do it yourself as per Lee's post) because I am lead to believe the agent down there charges you for the hire of the diagnostic gear which he has to order from Uralla and return.
Maybe this has changed? hopefully... Shame you didn't drop into Uralla on the way down, Mat will load the new map and balance the TB's for free if you ask nicely. Be careful about the advice from America, while a lot of it is well meant, it is not always correct. The EJK tricks the TB's into adding more fuel which was improved performance with the original fuel map.
Save yourself some money, get the new map loaded and balance the TB's.

Hi Dale. With help from the guys here and from Soviet Steeds posts I have managed to balance the throttle bodies on my Ranger. Not very hard if you are a bit handy and have some computer skills. Have a read up. It might be worth your while.

Thanks for your welcome and advice guys. A couple of us up here are sourcing parts in order to make diagnostic cables to balance our throttle bodies. Will keep you posted on our progress. Hopefully that's all that the problem is. Cheers. Dale.

Unfortunately using OBDWiz won't tell you what map is loaded, only the dealer diagnostic software can do that - however if you have a spare $1200 US it is available

Hi Dale, Good to see another Ural making its way to Tasmania (Australia's best roads), i'm down in Hobart. I'll send you a message though this forum in the next couple of days, re "Dobeck". Gary.
