Bobsie forgot her login details so I’m filling in!🤣 Departed Maclean at 8.15 am for a five day ride? with Uralla our first overnighter. Had a great ride over the range with smoko at Tyringham and lunch at Wollomombi gorge/falls which is spectacular. The weather looming over Armidale in the distance with a nasty north westerly got us cracking for Uralla which we made in the nick of time as it started raining as soon as we arrived...Phew! Looks like we will be staying another day here as the forecast is for rain tomorrow so we will give Clare a visit at Ural HQ tomorrow (Matt is away). Dinner tonight at the famous Top Pub👍 but because of the covid capers you’ve got to book which is a first for us and we have been coming here for years! Wednesday forecast is brilliant and we have no idea where it will take us which is a nice way to travel😃 Cheers Wheels & Bobsie😎

Day 2 and raining here in Uralla which is great for the area. We don’t ride in the rain if avoidable so took the chance to visit Clare at Ural HQ. What a hardworking, delightful person Clare is and nothing is to much trouble for her. (Matt! Clare’s offsider is away at present) Tomorrow’s ride is 258 kms heading NW with great weather forecast. As an aside!...do not use 4ply tyres as a pusher (or any Ural wheel for that matter) it’s 6ply or nothing because the 4 ply tyre walls are not stiff enough for a Ural. I learnt the hard way by (stupidly) not checking the Duro tyre ply and load rating that I recently put on my pusher (which I thought was a 6 ply) so I’ve been running around the last couple of weeks with a 4ply pusher causing all sorts of problems. No wonder Bobsie was doing battle with the bike when riding in those strong winds and corners yesterday. Late yesterday after arriving in Uralla on went the 6ply spare and the Retro is grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire Cat and all is good. For any forum readers that haven’t been to Ural HQ Uralla I have included a few pics. Cheers Wheels & Bobsie😎

Day 3!...woke up to a solid frost but a picture perfect morning in Uralla. 8am start! destination Warialda via Thunderbolts Way to Inverell then across the Gwydir Hwy and up to Ashford for lunch. Did a left at Ashford into a 35km/hr westerly (blustery riding) for Coolatai then Warialda by 2pm. An easy pleasant ride and for a change all tar which we will rectify tomorrow. Cheers Wheels & Bobsie😎

And stay safe on the adventures
Its cold and very wet in Adelaide , not many borders open on the south side [ think its called Victoria ] anyway need to head north for some warmth , the Flinders Ranges had nearly 100mm delivered from the heavens the other day with many roads still closed.

Day 4!...Warialda greeted us with a freezing morning a cloudless sky and the sun just clearing the horizon. Our destination today was a place on Baldersleigh Rd West of Guyra so a quick weather check with BOM produced this.. The temps are below our Ural threshold (we ride for a good time! not a bad time) and look at the wind strength...nasty! furthermore colder still weather may be on the agenda for Guyra on Friday and Saturday😖 A quick change of plan and it was decided that home was it today. We took off at 8.30am on the Gwydir Hwy with every thermal and mid layer we could put on and bloody froze all the way to Glen Innes where it was colder still at 10-12 Celsius, luckily the wind (which was blasting by now) was right behind us and the Retro bolted... I think the top speed readout on my speed app must be out!! From Glen Innes it’s over the Gibraltar Range then down to Grafton. By the time we reached the old Cangai Bridge that crosses the Mann River (which we diverted to checkout) the temp had risen at least another 12 degrees so it’s off with most of the thermals and Bobsie takes over for the final 100km run home. The cold riding up on the tablelands was a little unpleasant but the drop in altitude bringing warmer conditions coupled with a blasting tail wind made for another of those unforgettable Ural days. Cheers Wheels & Bobsie😎
