G'day all,
Have signed up to the forum as i do like the Ural bikes, don't own one but would one day like to as i reckon they look like a heap of fun. Anyway, I live up at Chillagoe FNQ, small town about 3hrs west of Cairns, this would be a great place to own and ride one of these bikes, even getting to town from Cairns you still have about 10 klms of dirt to travel over. West of here is about 600klms of dirt across the Burke Development Road to get to the next town which is Normanton or Kurumba...
Catch yas. Grant.

Hi Grant, Welcome to the forum. Its good to hear about where you live. Chillagoe looks like an interesting area with the landscapes and caves. I do hope to get up that way riding the Ural sometime. My 2019 Ural goes great. They are a really fun bike to ride. It does take a bit of learning to get the hang of them. Do you have a bike at the moment?
It would be a good ride across from Chillagoe to Kuramba. It looks like it would be 560km without fuel. I have a reliable 300km range with the tank and 10 litre jerry can. With a passenger and gear on board it would be a really heavy load to carry fuel for that distance. The ride across through Mt Surprise to Kuramba looks more viable for me, for fuel stops. Do you know what that road is like?
I hear the Ural dealer in Townsville is good. Maybe you can have a chat to him about getting a sidecar.
Cheers, Steve

Bruce in Townsville is very good. Probably forgotten more about bikes in general and especially sidecars than most of us put together. Plus it's actually a pleasure to buy a vehicle from him, unlike the rest of the dealer fraternity, car or bike.
