Hi, I'm Mick 57 from brisbane. Thinking of getting second hand Ural and saving up( $12 000 so far). Not sure of skill level to ride one and how much tec skill is needed in the upkeep. My mechenical ability is to hit some thing with a 2pond hammer till it works or replace it when it breaks

G’day Mick,
Understand your concerns, I am new to this having pick up my Ural in late December. I was certainly daunted and still learning. I know have a smile on my face each time I take it out. I went through a time of thinking what have I done. As guys will tell you it is just adjusting your brain, like going from a bike to car to truck, manual auto etc. I now wish I had started earlier as its a whole new and wonderful world. I am 62 and been on bikes since 15. That made things a little harder as this is a totally different way of riding. My advice is when you get it practice and do this consistantly. I hardly ride my other bike now. The guys on this site are awesome, patient and understanding, this has been an immense help to me. Again it all comes down to patients and practice. Wish you well Mick Its the start of another great adventure.
PM me anytime
Jake

Welcome Mick. Some people just jump on and ride while some need a bit more ‘learning’........it is different....... and not something you will do without thought while riding if you wish to survive to enjoy.
Cheers, lee
