Noteing bewildered's issue with the doubtful "dowty" washer. I was very careful in removing the right side cover. There was lots of rubber debris, which I think was cut from the rubber during the initial install. None had passed into the rocker chamber. I saw no need to replace any of the washers. Checked the head bolt torque (50nm) on the right side picked up a smidge more on both lower nuts. On the left just one gave a smidge more. This may be just due to torque wrench variability. Valve lash was very close to spec. I set the right at a sliding 0.005 for both Inlet and exhaust. The left was a little more trouble as the inlet was a smidge tight for me, dragging the .004 guage heavily. Backed it off to a firm .005. Refitted some new cork gaskets as I had them, and tensioned to 12nm.I also noted that in my opinion, the spark plugs had been over tightened. I could not undo either side with the provided plug spanner. They were re fitted after the valve adjustment and tensioned to 21ftlb. No leaks on start up and none evident when hot.I have what may be some unbalance in the throttle bodies. Check tomorrow.

Cheers Harry, good report. My spectacular near 60 MPG has decreased since I began going a bit quicker.

Spark plug torque should be 18 to 21.7 foot lb For alloy heads with flat compression washer engagement. Not NM as was published originally, but now edited. I also spoke of "doubtful dowty" washers. Here are some pics of the bits and a pic of spark plug colouration, Interestingly, the dowty bits were all from the right side. Next to nothing from the left valve cover bolts. For information. The dimensions off the screws in the area the dowtys engage is 7.85mm or 0.3085" diameter, Dowty washer dimentions are, OD is 17.36mm or 0.6825". Thickness is 1.53mm or 0.060". Rubber ID to suit the screw neck.

You can forget plug colour…won’t tell you anything other than what additives are in the fuel. Blistering or flaking is another story. Why have you set the valve clearances wide? They open with heat and spec is 0.1mm (.004” if you are older than me). Not sure on the euro 5 engine but all previous have run smoother at minimum spec.
Just sayin’ 😇

There are also posts from others to set both exhaust and inlet to 0.005". I'd rather hear them rattle a bit, than be too tight.

Your bike your choice, but while it is under warranty I would be following the factory guidelines and not some random post on the internet - far too many of them as it is and not all of them are right.
