Ural camping is a better than good thing to do with our Ural’s but it can get complicated. It’s all good when there’s only yourself with an empty sidecar (that’s how it used to be when my favourite camping person had her own Ural) because that’s where you can shove all your copious and comfortable camping gear, and wet, dry, or otherwise it can be shoved right back in there when your done for the night and moving on for your next camp. BUT, when you have only one Ural and that sidecar is taken up with your favourite camping person then you start having problems. All that copious and comfortable camping gear of yours has now got to be doubled up!…well sort of!….Go lightweight you say!….well try and tell my favourite camping person that and see how far you get. So now the plan has been made, dates, location, duration (one week) and excitement reign’s as the departure date gets closer, but so does the mound of gear and essential items that MUST be taken, of course there’s still the “this has got to go as well” bit!…..Jesus wept, where is all this gear going to go, there’s only so much Ural. Right!…enough is enough, so it’s thin out time. Well two hours have passed and the thinning out produces a zero result, and tomorrow is pack Ural day (which takes all day) for an early departure the following morning. Believe it or not all the comforts of home fit on board and sort of looks organised. Off we go!….the first night it took at least two hours to get everything unpacked and squared away and longer to pack it all back on the Ural the next morning (still wet from a heavy dew). It took a couple of days doing this until yours truly and his favourite camping person decided no more one nighters with only one Ural….it’s two or three at the very least and it’s a cabin for the one nighters!…done deal! Cheers Wheels. 😎 Note…a pic speaks a thousand words!

My "conditions of purchase" lists "camping only if every other option is exhausted". 😆 🤣 😂

Simone and I are pretty organised on the camping thing. We Run two camping inventories for 48 hours and extended trips. Most of our gear is quite compact such as jet boils and even our swags are small, we also run light weight tents. Fortunately for us we have been use to using the panniers on our beemers plus my bush walking gear.
The ural for us means we could probably take a few more items but still prefer to go light weight with items. Depending also where we are going. Sometimes will mix dehydrated food packs. Even when we were doing extended remote desert trips with the camper we only brought the essentials and adjusted to this. We still use our tried and proven inventories for the camper bush walking and bikes. But in saying this we are all different what works for us may not work for others. But regardkess it is always exciting getting away by any means😊

On The Subject Of Camping - what innovation have you made/purchased that makes camping a littler sweeter for you? For me it’s my compact lamp, very small but puts out good light in the tent or around the campsite. USB charging and will last hours. Anaconda cheap, still going strong after five years. Have used it to set up in the dark.

Looks pretty good. I might have to get one . Camping on the Ural is absolute luxury so much space compared to what I'm used to. I have a really warm speeping bag that doesnt pack up very well , but I can stuff it in a bigger bag and then shove in the sidecar or on a rack , so much space. My latest thing that I'm really happy with is a fuel stove ( Trangia) so much quieter than a gas cooker , doesnt break the serenity On The Subject Of Camping - what innovation have you made/purchased that makes camping a littler sweeter for you? My "conditions of purchase" lists "camping only if every other option is exhausted". 😆 🤣 😂 I agree with you on that Haitch. After a week, or two, or three on the road, Sidecar Chick likes when we stay in an apartment with a kitchen and laundry. I find it best to get on at least the eighth floor, to get good views from the balcony. Views such as the azure blue Timor Sea with tropical parrots flying past. After a long dusty ride Sidecar Chick likes to have flutes of sparkling and bush tucker hors d’oeuvre on the top of desert sand dune, watching the sun set. Hey, camping is great. People have many riding styles. With so many new Ural riders coming on board lets make sure we keep the forum inclusive. I suggest it is good to be aware of people who may participate on the forum of different genders, religions, race etc. What a great way to travel. The arm chair comfort of a Ural!

Working on trailering and a tent of a bigger nature as a base from which to loop out. As they say, nothing in life is free, everything has its price. I could apply for a leave pass though 🤔 😆😆👍

I can only think of one URAL owners event in the past 14 years that has been camping only. Accomodation available every other time.
