Hi Keith, Welcome. "To Ural or not" given the current situation in Russia is a huge question. Good luck finding an answer

Welcome Keith. The situation with Ukraine and Russia conflict has caused production in Russia to cease. Ural has scheduled production to recommence in 6 months time but NOT in Russia. I would get my questions out so an informed decision can be made. Keeping in mind the lead time could be 3 or 4 months. Trade routes from the new factory are yet to be established. This group and Soviet Steeds are the "go to" pages for others asking the same questions. On tariffs, the last shipment no tariff was applied. As orders were placed and I think the container was in transit before the conflict. Also, I am told if a tariff was applied, it is on the wholesale price ie what Ural AU pays NOT the retail cost.

From what I understand, the last container to arrive left Russia in either late December, or early January (As Haitch mentioned above). The container was turned around a few times and ended up going via Germany, rather than the chaotic Vladivostok. It finally arrived in Sydney late April and the outfits it contained are currently being assembled and delivered to their new owners. Because the shipment was sent prior to outbreak of war, and prior to tariffs being imposed, there could be no legal way to apply a tariff to this shipment.
In answer whether to "Ural or not" it will depend on how patient you are. It will be at least August until the new factory in Kazakhstan can start manufacture, and some time after before they can actually ship. There are quite a few on order for Australia, that were due over the next 9 months, but they've all been delayed until probably 2023. So, if you ordered one, you may be waiting for at least 9-12 months before you see it. It is possible there have been some cancelled orders that you could take up. It's a matter of calling the dealers/importer and seeing what their current books show.
There is one 2021 Gear Up for sale in Albury at present, but it's last year's and a demo so it may not suit you.

I think the 2022 models advertised on Bikesales state "New bike to order" as far as I understand, they don't have any stock for sale. The comments on the Demo suggest it's Blacklocks in Lavington, near Albury. Hard to be certain, but the current price they're advertising it for is higher than a standard equipment 2022 Gear Up, so one would hope there are some some extras.... but the listing doesn't show any more than on a standard delivery. Yes, it is registered in VIC for another 9 months, but that's no use to anyone outside the state.
Looking at the pics, it's got the super-ceded front swing arm, and the old style reverse lever. Perhaps missing a few of the other 2022 bits as well.
If you're patient, it may be that the 2022 is better value. If you're not patient, jumping on the 2021 may give you what you need.
