Hey Guys & Gals - Sometime soon in the next 5 years I plan on riding off into the sunset and going a leasurly lap of Aus followed by on overland to London. To save dosh I'll need to camp. But I am sick of lying on the ground so I want to go in style - OzTent RAV 3, cot, table, fridge, generator - the whole lot ( I am sure someone is going to tell me to just buy a car ).
Q1 - anyone got any good tips/plans for turning the rig into a good cargo carrier? I saw one on bikesales dot com once but it got away from me.
Q2 - Not everyone rides on the same side of the road as we do. Is this a huge issue with a sidecar? Anyone experienced this? Is it safe? And if so why does Ural have to make a special model for Australia?
Q3 - Is the 23 model a better build quality than pervious? The engine is cast and it is built in a new country that might be more quality focused? (no insult intended )
Bonus Question - is the Two Up feature really worth it? Noting I do want to go a bit off road but I'm not going too extreme I hope!
Thanks guys.
D.

A1. Remove the seat. Fit “roof” racks to the sidecar to take your long stuff.
A2. Australia is right hand drive. Australian design rules say SideCar must be fitted to the left. Think about trying to pass caravan or truck if you have to put the sidecar on the wrong side of the road before you can see anything oncoming…..👀😳
A3. The build quality improves every year. 2019+ are the best. If by Two Up you mean 2 wheel drive…..that is all you can buy new in Australia. Ask yourself the “is it worth it” question when you are bogged or stuck in a ditch or creek crossing somewhere.

A bit more about what Lee said. You mention overseas, with a sidecar on the left, but driving on the right, it will be the sidecar going to the left before you can see oncoming traffic. If it was me, I would spend the time in Oz learning the ropes and building your skills. Assuming you have no experience with sidecars. In years to come you will need to decide if you are going OS then over there, the majority of roads and vehicles are LHD and SC will be on the right. Cross that bridge as you get closer.

It took me a while but I see your point. Just shows that I should take haitch's advice. I am still in my two-wheel mindset. Thxs gents.
