I've been going to the Karuah Rally with a group since I got back riding, after a seventeen year break on my then new 97' 1100GS. Bikes have changed, this year it's the Ural trailing down to start at Uralla. Then it's as much dirt as we can find to the rally. Last year it was Friday night at Bendemeer, previously it's been Nundle and earlier days Moonan Flat. Not sure where this year but I would like to go over the Barrington Tops either coming or going. The last few years it's been out to rally site, have a beer and ride back to stay at Dungog, dinner and off to the tin Shed Brewery, you get to an age when you say been there done that with camping. Last year it was so hot we even had a dip in the river. Hope to see a few Urals there www.bmwtcnsw.org.au/events/47th-karuah-river-rally-2024

Great ride in, if you haven't been you should go. Excellent camping if you are in to it. They use to fully cater but covid stopped that and they never got back in to it for some reason.

In the early 2000's we would ride down, stay at the Victoria Hotel at Moonan Flat, often booked out, and ride across the Barrington Top, I would then ride home to Brisbane without going to the rally. A couple of times we have ridden in and ahh no, too wet and back to book into a pub at Dungog or Gloucester. Once it was crazy hot on the Friday, saw 47c riding into Nundle after leaving Emmaville early, it was only hot dropping off the dirt into Tamworth. On the Saturday I had organised early breakfast for the group and off by 7am heading home, of course I slept in and missed breakfast, with lots of dirt at Tenterfield we had to stop, again 47c+ People that ride in those conditions are obviously crazy, three of us now own Urals, that proves it :-)
