Hello All - just picked up my new to me Ural 2012 Retro from Uralla. Wheels, aka Paul (and Robin), made the transaction enjoyable, entertaining and educational (and delicious - try the lamb cutlets at the Top Pub). Took the train up Sunday, did my training with Jon on Monday, flew the wheel and made it home to Manly, NSW easy on Tuesday. Thank the powers that be that I did that training cause the left handers down from the table lands into Barrington would have been terrifying if not. Only ran out of petrol once.
I'm planning a sort of never ending journey which will involve camping in every National Park in Australia. I have the perfect bike to do it now.
Again, thanks to Wheels and Jon at Urals in Oz.
See you all on a ride someday!
D.
PS - this UDF you guys talk about is real!

Welcome Drew.
From Surf Coast, Victoria. You got a good buy there. Very unique bike. I am now starting my 3rd year of Ural education. Some will say I'm just slow, but my ride hours are limited. My advice, learn slow not fast..They will bite.

The best thing I did was Jon's training last February, the second best thing was to show my wife what I had done and then fess up to ordering a Ural. Took delivery in late July and despite being away from Oz for almost two months I have 5300k up.
Picking up my new trailer this week and then driving to Uralla with a stop in Tenterfield (Rocky River/Harrigans Lane dirt)on our way to the Karuah Rally out of Dungog, mostly dirt. The Ural is great on the dirt and back country roads but I can't get my head around boring transits on the blacktop.

Phil, you just need to work out ways to get to the event, without going on boring blacktops. My 2022 is now 19 months old and has averaged 1,000 km per month... including 4,600km round trip to Tasmania early last year. I do admit to trailering to the Pt Macquarie ride last year, due to time constraints.
