Why is there a ranked star system...I thought that we all had equality.........it's not for me. Just record me as a member. Stuart

Stuart, if you use the iPhone app to access the forum there is no ranking info shown. You can just pretend they don't exist. Tapatalk works the same way for forums such as SS, RI and AdvRider.

Stuart Just as in our beloved (?) communist homeland as you say we are all equal. Some are simply more equal than others. In this case some natter more than others... and we need more natterers! Graeme... I know we don't need more subject areas on the forum for the few people who post, but if you just had a General or Off Topic area as a catch-all for stuff that doesn't belong in specific areas? Might tempt a few more to post about the world in general?

Facebook is just "have you got something to say" and it attracts worldwide people. There are specific clubs on Facebook and they are terrific. I'm finding that I can communicate with more people that way than thru a forum page which seems so structured. Just some thoughts and Graeme I commend you for your work in setting this up but I find it clumsy and uninteresting particularly when I'm introduced as a beginner... I do understand what Roscoe is saying about the chatter logs but I think that a Facebook section for our Ural community would be so much better. No offence Graeme so don'y take it the wrong way. The Star system has been modified slightly. I am not really in favour of it at all, so if enough of the members indicate as such, then I shall remove it entirely.

Stuart I agree with this post, facebook would attract a big following I think as it seems everyone has an account. As for the stars system at the moment it doesn't worry me as a star does not make anyone any better than the next.

Agree on the Facebook comments, but a Forum is more specific than General topics and chat. This one is specific to Urals and Austtralia of course, and it makes it much easier to obtain and pass on information that can be looked up at any time. Maybe you can do the same on FB but the couple of groups I look at are very general and may I say "info scattered". They seem more like a day to day diary to me and I can't look back and find out "what size tyres that guy fitted six months ago". As for the star system......well, I've always been a star. Lee

I see Facebook and forums filling very different communication needs, and I tend to use both.
Member activity rankings have always been a feature of forums, and I think they encourage posts that offer little other than increased stats. I find them unnecessary and support their deletion.

Stars don't do anything for me... I wouldn't care if they went away.
