Grahame, how would the 6th or 7th work for you to make the boat....? A bit too close. Associated with my role there will be a post Airshow debrief and shutdown process. I think I would need a week after the show before I could go....... Please don't try and fit me in. As Wheels said "you can't please everyone etc...." i will see what the eventual plan is and see if I can fit in cheers

G'day All,
Jenny and I are currently in Condoblin, making our way slowly westwards. Thanks for the company and good times at Narsty. We plan on being back for Arstty. In that regard, we now think we'll leave the ute and caravan on the mainland, and just take the Ural to Tassie. Cabins would be the go.
Cheers, Geoff.

Good move leaving the ute and caravan on the mainland Geoff. Wait until you see the ARSTTy '17 itinerary, there is not much of Tassie that you will not see. At the moment I have it up for approval with our tried and proven leaders Norm and Lee. Lee has given the thumbs up and awaiting Norms reply so hope to post it very soon. I don't think you will be disappointed. Cheers, Paul.

Glad to hear you are travelling well Geoff and Jenny. I have also pretty well decided to just take the bike to Tassie. We are 50km from the Tassie Ferry and have plenty of room for those who wish to leave cars, trailers and even caravans.

Just had a call from a lady who has recently returned from Tassie. She highly recommends touring Tassie by Ural. They had such a great time, they are looking to join me on the August 2016 two Rally loop through Birdsville Inaminka etc.

I toured Tassie for 10 days in 2014 on my Ural. Could have spent 10 weeks there. I originally booked a recliner but upgraded to a cabin once I saw the rather feral looking bunch heading back to the recliners.

I am very interested in ARSTTy
Just having arrived last night in Tassie on the Boat from Melb, moved down to Swansea for a few days at the Caravan Park, fully booked as are most places this weekend, we shall be heading up the East Coast over the next 10 days, I will take notes if that is of any help for 2017. Let me know if you need any specific info whilst we are in Tassie. email me at: robcoch@bigpond.com or 0422 338 054
Cheers
Rob

Hello All, The planning is done for Tassie. To start with I will just give the Towns/Places we will stay at, and the duration. I will post a comprehensive list later of the parks with contact and website details so bookings can be made. Rest assured that the best park at each location to suit our needs was selected, but I will go into that in a further post.
Devonport 0 nights (arrive 6am, check out Devonport then a leisurely ride to Beauty Point) Beauty Point 3 nights (a beautiful spot on the Tamar River, easy day trip to Launceston, a great 244km round day trip to Ben Lomond 1570m) St Helens 2 nights (a great day ride north to Eddystone Point on the bay of fires and plenty to see around St Helens) Triabunna 1 night (travel to here via Coles bay, also breaks up a long ride, the gateway to Maria island) Snug 6 nights (this is a nice spot close to Hobart with great day rides and Salamander markets on the Saturday) Derwent Bridge 1 night (a good chance to see "The Wall" and breaks up a long ride) Strahan 3 nights (lots to do here, a great boat trip up the Gordon River, Wilderness steam train etc) Stanley 2 nights (a great ride up the west coast to here, nice little town, the chairlift a must) Gowrie Park 2 nights (Cradle Mountain on the way to here, scenic, and lots of attractions travelling onto Devonport) Devonport 0 nights (depart on Princess of Tasmania at 7.30 pm)
Cheers Paul (Wheels) Jacobs Ladder Ben Lomond (road to the second highest mountain in Tassie) Ural slides on corners not recommended here! The Troopy took two bites to get around this corner!
