Hello All, The planning is done for Tassie. To start with I will just give the Towns/Places we will stay at, and the duration. I will post a comprehensive list later of the parks with contact and website details so bookings can be made. Rest assured that the best park at each location to suit our needs was selected, but I will go into that in a further post.
Devonport 0 nights (arrive 6am, check out Devonport then a leisurely ride to Beauty Point) Beauty Point 3 nights (a beautiful spot on the Tamar River, easy day trip to Launceston, a great 244km round day trip to Ben Lomond 1570m) St Helens 2 nights (a great day ride north to Eddystone Point on the bay of fires and plenty to see around St Helens) Triabunna 1 night (travel to here via Coles bay, also breaks up a long ride, the gateway to Maria island) Snug 6 nights (this is a nice spot close to Hobart with great day rides and Salamander markets on the Saturday) Derwent Bridge 1 night (a good chance to see "The Wall" and breaks up a long ride) Strahan 3 nights (lots to do here, a great boat trip up the Gordon River, Wilderness steam train etc) Stanley 2 nights (a great ride up the west coast to here, nice little town, the chairlift a must) Gowrie 2 nights (Cradle Mountain on the way to here, scenic, and lots of attractions travelling onto Devonport) Devonport 0 nights (depart on Princess of Tasmania at 7.30 pm)
Cheers Paul (Wheels) Jacobs Ladder Ben Lomond (road to the second highest mountain in Tassie) Ural slides on corners not recommended here! The Troopy took two bites to get around this corner!

Some details about Parks in Tassie----------as stated in a previous post I have endeavoured to pick the best park at each location to suit our needs. There were only three places that offered choices anyway. They were St Helens, Hobart and Strahan. Fortunately all the other places that didn't offer a choice presented a nice park. It was necessary to cut out some locations that would have been nice to stay at but offered parks that didn't suit our needs or had bad reports e.g. Noisy, weekender shacks or caravans, rundown parks etc.
All locations barring Derwent Bridge and Gowrie Park are in towns with all the normal facilities. At Derwent Bridge there is a super old pub with meals and accommodation 5 kms back up the road from where we will be staying, and a restaurant right where we are staying (Lake St Clair Lodge/Tourist Park) some of the cabins there have kitchen facilities, there is also an open barbecue area. Gowrie Park has a restaurant next door, a camp kitchen, and some of the cabins kitchen facilities. Over and above their cabins they have a bunkhouse with 14 separate bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for $25/person/night. Sounds good!
I have found that most of the cabins in Tassie can accommodate more than two people, and in most cases in a second bedroom which is great. This may be useful to the campers, as on the 1 nighters and in inclement weather they could share a cabin for just a little more than the cost of a camp site. Food for thought!
Finally-------Princess of Tasmania bookings don't open until mid April 2016. With your accommodation-----"BOOK EARLY"-----this was stressed time and again by many of the parks we talked to. Now that the planning has been done I guess in the next few days I had better "practice what I preach" and book----maybe Rob will do that!
Feel free to call or email Rob and I if there is anything we can help with. Cheers (Wheels)

Terrific work Paul and Robyn, well done!
We're currently camped half way between Ivanhoe and Menindee, next to the railway line, and are getting the internet on our dongle - amazing!.
Lee, we'll take you up on the offer of somewhere to leave the ute and caravan next year. Thanks.
All the best, Geoff and Jenny.

Hi Lee, the station fences kept us back from the lakes, but we found a good possie near Gum Lake Siding.
We're now at the Burke and Wills campsite near Menindee for a couple of days. I've booked all our accommodation this afternoon on line for ARSTTy, apart from the one night at lake Sinclair, where I was advised to check back in June, as it's too early to book now.
We've ended up with a combination of tent sites, hostels, on site caravan and cabins, and mixed it all up for variety. It will be good if the weather falls in line with the standard of accommodation selected at the various locations!

Just wondering if it would be worthwhile for our co-ordinator (HINT) to perhaps contact said park and advise we have XX number, could you hold for us please. Just a thought. Yes we are going.
Cheers Rob.

Cheers Rob. Rob, past experience has been that they will only hold for a limited time, if at all. Yes it seems a long way out, but bookings for Tassie really need to be made very early.......like now...! I am just waiting for a final thought from the wife and I will book.
