Took a drive out to Young (NSW) today to pick up a Kelly Kettle for my camping kit. This would be my dearly beloved's longest trip in the outfit to date so I was hoping for good weather. Well the rain started before Yass! We stopped for breakfast at the Rollonin Cafe at Bowning. Great food and coffee with a really friendly atmosphere. The owners took a photo before we left and posted it on their facebook page. Undeterred we pressed on before stopping for petrol at Harden. A bloke there suggested we drive backwards to keep the rain out of our faces. We picked up the new fangled water boiler and had a walk up and down the street before heading for home. The rain eased up as we passed back through Yass. Switched to reserve just past Murrumbateman and pulled up to siphon the jerry can on the side of the highway. Cold, wet, running out of fuel on a 290km round trip and Margaret was still smiling when we got home. I think she might just make it as a monkey.
