Missed the Rosewood meet because l was in Sydney, but I did think about you
Did Sydney to Grafton yesterday which was about 600 kilometers on the 2/3 solo seat in the atrocious heatwave conditions which just to make things interesting included a headwind on the Buladelah to Macksville stretch. I was going to go inland, but time got the better of me and I needed to cover ground fast so I took the M1.
It wasn't pleasant but it served a purpose. I used a $6 throttle stop as a cruise control and sat on about 90 most of the way - took just under 8 hours - and 4 liters of water to fight off dehydration. Average fuel consumption was 6.8L/100
Left Grafton this morning for Casino where I put 16.4 liters in the tank, Kyogle then across to Uki and onto Murwillumbah then up the Numinbah valley to Nerang and home with vapors in the tank - 241 Kilometers.
The final drive is holding up. I drilled and pinned the rear bolt and checked at the axle and front at each fuel stop - no problems. It used about 30ml of oil from Sydney to Brisbane. Brand new case sitting on my doorstep when I got back so I will look at modifying that using the roll-pin or bolt method.
No other problems - 2600 kilometers all up with most of that in 4 days - Engine running well and apart from the cracked FD case, which I take full responsibility for, nothing else broke.
Was lucky enough to stop in Uralla on the way down and get Mat to load the 1.03 fuel map and balance the TB's - very close, which confirms my readings with the OBDWiz software.
I got to see the Ural balance software in action, ask tons of questions, bought a T-shirt and Clare made me a cup of tea - What other motorcycle importer would do that?
