So, while I'm here asking advice...
I'm planning to mount a GPS unit to my Ranger. For convenient access to power, that is switched on/off with the ignition, my cunning plan is to tap into the headlight power (at the back of the headlight). Anyone see any good reason not to do this?
TIA, Scott

I found an easier solution. My bike has (or had) a spare terminal on the ignition switch that is switched. Attached the GPS straight to it.

Thanks Norm, I'll have a look for a spare terminal at the switch first...

From memory, there is also an ignition switched spare lead behind the headlight with a female spade terminal. Yellow wire I think......!

Anyone see any good reason not to do this? That's how mine is... has been for four years without a problem.

Thanks Roscoau, that's good to know...
And Lee, if I find that yellow wire I'll leave it alone! Funny that it'd switch off with high beam though...

Im thinkin of runnin a power plug up to the dash area lf as the Chair one needs a adaptor all the time witch I do have anyway but would be easier if I could just plug in near speedo for the Ram-mount on the handlebars ....
