Hi all. Not sure if this is any use to anyone, but today I received a Ural (?) Speedo from Russia for the princely sum of $58.73 from Ebay. I was going to replace my current 2016 speedo with this one (I couldn't read the KPH line) but have found the can has been drilled slightly off centre. Nothing triggers OCD quite like something like that. Anyhow, I've removed the gauge mechanism and pulled off the needle, and will now attempt to do the same to the existing speedo, replacing the faceplate alone. In the meantime, I took this photo (attached) with a 10cm scale in case any of you would find it useful to make your own faceplate in the future. I'm sure someone clever could screen print or even etch it. And in case you want to remove the needle, I recommend the "two spoon" method. All the best, John

Same face as on my 2015 tourist.
I need to get in and add 2800 to the main odometer.

Andy, 2800km is just a trip to Melbourne and back for you.

But then it will still be 2800 out. I have read a post elsewhere that covers off on changing the current reading. Once that is done I can remove the little reminder tag from inside the face.

Done - and no need to venture south of the boarder.

14 Sep 2016 Β· A Gold Coast man was ordered to pay $17,000 in fines (12 September 2016) by the Southport Magistrates Court after being charged by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) with odometer tampering.

I would love to chat to a magistrate who felt that increasing the reading, to match the actual kilometers traveled, was an offense

Big difference to content winding the speedo back as to forward , which is the lesser of the two tampering events.

Ha ha ha the law just says tampering. Lacks definition. Just like the law that chains must be carried in the snow country where I am going on my Honda tomorrow. So officer, see that thing driving theback wheel ......! ππ
