Anyone tried these as traction aids and for bridging over gullies or logs. Just a thought with Jake.

Probably of more use than 2WD IMO.

Not sure roscoeau. It might pivot without drive on both wheels. Anyway, don't even have my ural yet, so its hypothetical. Anyone actually tried them??

My thoughts are to make something small to assist when stuck, just need something that may give a enough movement to get out of trouble and first step before using winch. Its more for when riding on your own. The common sense is look for alternative route before getting into trouble but somedays things do go pear shape.
Would be interesting to see what ideas are out there. I like to keep things to a minimum, compact and light weight. Probably need something that is about 600mm long by 250mm wide. Its figuring out what to use as a base and what can be uses to enhance grip. Gotta get the brain ticking. Or do I get a 2WD. Hmmm not sure how to convince my better half. That could be more challenging!

I have read of plastic milk crates cut up and joined with HD zip ties being used as traction aids.

Hi all, tvan sums it up when he says try an alternate route. My 4wd saying ( constantly reminded by the co-pilot ) is "do we have to go there" If you must and you get stuck there is usually plenty of stuff lying around in the bush. Rocks, branches, anything you can find. For the sand, well I try to stay out of it. See the quote above. Stay well all.

From experience!....keep well away from sand on a 1WD!....take it on, then standby, because things will get ugly real fast no matter what your carting with you!...just sayin!😎

throw your passenger under the drive wheel!. well maybe not.
In another past life I trained military off road operations and the thing we had to drum into students, "Is the vehicle capable, Am I capable and Do I need to go there?" A difference between recreational off roading and travelling to survive.
