I would like know if WA Ural owners would be interested informal gatherings. This would be to meet new people, show the brand and have some fun using our Ural Motorcycles.
If we can get several people interested then someone might post a notification like " I am going to xxx on (a date) meeting at yyy at 9am returning at 5pm who is interested"
No formal group or structure and attend an outing if you wish to. I am thinking of one day outings where we drive to and from a destination in convoy, perhaps have a coffee and chat then return home. After one dayers , e.g. Pinjar motorcycle area, longer trips, or camping trips or staying in caravan parks could be planned and advertised. E.g. to country music venues, or travel parts of the Wheatbelt way or rodeos in country towns or a day trip to Boyagin Rock. etc or a trip to NSW to attend a Ural Australia outing. One possible trip might be Fremantle to Hillarys Boat Harbour
I am not sure if we use this site to promote a gathering or perhaps set up a Facebook site or perhaps there is already a WA group. Comments please Would we admit other motorcycles that have sidecars - possibly
A Facebook group called West Aussie Ural, (any legal implications?) might admit WA ural owners to a closed group and advertise trips there. For instance PAR (Perth Adventure Riders) run a successful Facebook page
Note it is useless having a WA Ural group as the name is confused with Washington (WA) state in the USA, unless it is WA (Western Australia) Ural riders.
Your comments for a name please or have no name and post each gathering as a stand alone gathering = your comments please
Firstly reply to this with a first name, suburb or town, your preference of weekends or week days or any day, then perhaps the distance you would be happy to drive e.g. less than 150 Kms
My name is Peter tag is PLIF52 , Carine , any day, up to 250 Kms, each trip as a stand alone

G'day Peter, I live in Albany, so would not be involved in the ride destinations you've outlined above, apart from eastern state adventures, which my wife and I have previously attended four times during autumn. If the proposed WA group gets under way, some south-west or great southern destinations would interest us. Cheers, Geoff.

Thanks Geoff for identifying yourself as being in WA. I wonder if you know of any other Ural owners near you. I have seen one in Augusta and another in Margaret River. I hope to pack my camping gear and head your way.
I would encourage you and others to use this west-australian-ural-rides forum when you plan to take the Ural out even on short rides in your area or further afield. I would have had my hand up for SWAARSTY 2021- it looked great. I am yet to take delivery of my 2WD Gearup but I am hopeful I will get a call from John van Gemmert in the next week or two. It was ordered in November 2020.
I own a KLR650 which I hope to keep. best regards Peter

Hi Peter, I’m in North Perth and have a Black 2014 T. Another guy 2 streets away that I’ve met, Gary, has a Grey 2019 ranger he rides to work on Fridays! I’ve seen another on the road down Freo way and one in Kalamunda, so there’s a few around. But we are pretty few and far between. My riding is confined to local stuff with the dog mostly due to time limitations - having a young family and busy business as well as lots of other interests. You will meet many people getting out there on your own, the Ural will attract them like flies! If you are getting a new one then you shouldn’t have to work on it much, but if you need help or just want to drop by and show me your new bike when you get it and have a coffee just PM me. Andrew

Hello Peter, There is another Ural in the Albany area, but I haven't met the owner yet.
Rescheduling of SWAARSTY 2021 will be up for discussion later this year. I'll toss it around with Lee and Wheels to see whether autumn 2022 is a possibility. Uncertainty with Covid is the main limiting factor.
Wilmo and I both ride 2 wheel adventure bikes as well. Hang on to that KLR.

Andrew many thanks. I wrote a long reply only to loose it when I pressed send. I looked up PM so yes I will send a message once I have the bike and more importantly have learnt to ride it. It occurred to me I should design a business car that said Ural Riders of WA on one side and blank on the other. If a Ural rider had a conversation with another Ural owner. At his choosing ask the other person if he/she would be interested in future Ural rides. If yes write his contact name and email address on the back of one business card and hand a 2nd card to the other person and ask for that persons contact details. then both swap cards. The business card would be many to an A4 page that could be printed on a home printer on A4 paper. Regards Peter
