G’day Everyone,
What heated grips are people using and how have you found them?.
Also what are some items you have fitted that you find was considered essential or a great improvement.
With such a wealth of knowledge and experience out there in Ural land I am sure that people have added items over time that have improved their ride.
My wife Simone surprised me yesterday with a set of mud/knee guards, not sure if that was to reduce some of the washing with me coning home covered in mud after my ride.

hi Jake, i fitted Oxford adventure grips to my beastie, easy install and direct to the battery, i have used Oxford on a number of bikes, good quality and long lasting. The big winner is they turn themselves off, so no worrying about flattening your battery. An interesting note on the Ural, if its idling for a period the Oxford grips start shutting down, obviously no charge, a blip of the throttle will reset them, but i really think, Ural should not idle for long periods, I did that the other night and the headers were glowing bright red.
I was surprised when i rode in the rain the other day, with how wet my lower body got from spray.

Never had an issue with Oxford. They work well and the auto off function is great. There are grips that have the controller and wiring combined and maybe a little neater but I strayed from Oxford once and had a failure.
The leg guards are not the most beautiful accessory but they are very functional in reducing the rain and mud on the lower legs......helps keep legs warmer on cold days as well.
Ploz, don't idle your Ural like that again or I will tell your mother !

Lee, it was a case of need to, long story. but i was surprised how quick it got hot, being dark the glow of the headers was a lot more obvious. i have noticed the left side header when riding of a night, gets a pale glow, i imagine thats due to less airflow? is this normal?

I’ve fitted Oxford to three bikes now. Like the previous replies, they work really well. Especially on the other persons bike, because she forgets to turn them off. The battery/voltage cutoff works just fine.
