Hi All. Looking at options to transport the Ural. I read some time back about using a tilting box trailer. This on the face of it, in an 8x6 seems a good solution..I understand a winch is mandatory to wind the outfit on and off the tilted box. This in my mind may lead to balance problems as the poster implied. Can anyone shed some light on how this may be safely overcome?? Perhaps a second winch controlling the box bed?? Or provide some additional thoughts on trailing. For us, a box trailer is preferred rather than a flat top like Lee had.

G’day Haitch, good timing, looking forward to feed back as well as we are just starting to look at getting a trailer built, went to AI Trailers in Bairnsdale who seem to do a nice job. Will need mine for fire wood as well so trying to decide on either a single or tandem.

About $2500 I think. My query revolves around controlling the tilt tray as the outfit is loaded/unloaded. Have a look at their page. Looks good. Like you, I need to use it for other stuff.

Stonegate 8 x 6 heavy duty trailer is an ideal Ural carrier. You do need the tilt mechanism though. The tilt mechanism is a modified trailer Jack readily available on eBay as is the winch. 😎

Also looking at options for transport, hoping to use the ural as the day tripper when we are camped up. This one looked pretty good from stonegate too but too narrow; An 8x6 with this config would be good. www.stonegateindustries.com.au/product/motorcycle-atv-trailer/I like the full width mesh ramp but the wheel loops might need modification.

Stonegate 8x6 heavy duty tilt trailer in pic. Having a...decent fixed ramp!....certainly gets rid of the need for a winch or tilt assist though. I emphasis...decent fixed ramp!...Independent ramps are a pain in the ass to secure, stow away and can be plain dangerous if not heavy duty. I had them on my first trailer and didn’t like it one bit driving the Ural up the ramps. Ended up putting on a hand winch. 😎

I think the 8x6 tipper that "wheels" has can be ordered with a fixed tailgate/ramp. It would need significant strength to take the weight though.
