The fuel pump (external type) on our Bike has an audible buzz when on. Probably been like it for a long time or maybe forever, but was just curious to hear from other EFI riders. Plugs show it is running lean(white) although I've heard they do somewhere. Also, does anyone have any figures for the fuel pump? Pressure, flow rate etc. Thanks.

I don't think it has changed for the 2018, but you never know so check. And I thought I had posted this before but cant find it, my 2015 fuel pump runs continuously so the buzz is normal. If you turn the ignition on it should run for a few seconds then change pitch when supply pressure is reached. Excess fuel is fed back into the tank via a feedback gate in the pump. Newer models have the pump in the tank and I think it switches off when pressure is reached. Gen II rebuild kit also switches off the pump at pressure.
I asked Ural about the pressure and think Mat Clare said it was 34-36psi which seems a bit high for a feed back gate system (can't find the email from Matt Found the email dated 24 Sept 20). I haven't measured it and they didn't provide a flow rate. Clare also said that Ural mentioned anything under 30psi and there will be problems.
What I do know is that a new pump will set you back about $400 so be really careful when fiddling with it.
Suggest an email to Clare and Mat for clarification on pressure/flow? My original enquiry was about the software rev limiter - the ECU will drop spark at 5600 rpm to prevent over the engine over running.
As for white plugs, Unleaded took away my ability to read plugs so I will leave that to the experts, but I will say that the EFI system runs lean enough to pass emissions regulations but rich enough so they don't have to fork out loads on failed engines. There is some data on SS regarding the difference between the original and the OR maps and the conclusion was that it could be run a fair bit leaner, but that is like overclocking a CPU/GPU - great fun till that expensive smoke comes out.

External pump = 35psi Louder noise from pump is air in system ……or pump saying go find $400.
With today’s fuel, spark plug colour means naff all, except really black.
Any 14-18 bike that does not have the OR fuel map installed is legal but crap.

Thanks for replies. Was just for interest sake. Still goes and makes all the normal noises. But $ 400 for a fuel pump ,geez. Is it anything special or just gold plated? Oldmate.

Nothing special, specific parts that don't seem to be interchangeable with other automotive applications. Ural went for the best deal rather than off the shelf and it is starting to hurt - especially the EFI system. And it is $400 if you snap the feed pipes off the end plates because the end plates are not available separately even if there is nothing wrong with your pump.

Maybe if we knew pressure and flow rates any aftermarket would do. There are plenty around for way less than $400. Mind you flow rates probably are not important on a 750 twin.

Flow rate is irrelevant as long as 35psi is retained.
Here is something for those concerned about fuel mixture…..
Use a pump with higher pressure capability and fit an adjustable pressure regulator………instant mixture control. 👍🤣

I once bought fuel pumps from Ashdown Ingram in Springvale, carb pumps were very low pressure to suit float valves and fuel injection pumps significantly higher but I cannot recall how high. Both were auto shut off and maybe $50.00 ?
