Hi guys , looking for an answer to the following - is there meant to be any lash between the cam and crankshaft gears on a 750 cc ? According to the 2000 Ural repair manual 650cc engines have a lash of .001 to .004 on a new engine , so I figure a 750 would also have some degree of movement . Reason I ask is since I reapplied the cylinders and heads there is no lash between those two gears . The alternator gear is still to be adjusted but has plenty of movement . Cheers for any replies .

Is this after your crank replacement?
I think the timing gear sets are matched? Are you using the same gears?
I don't remember an actual figure, I just remember Chris looking at it and saying that seems right. Not all of us have an adjusted eye ... Biggest problem is going to be figuring out how to fix it as there is no adjustment.

Max 0.5mm Must have some. 0.2-0.4 would be ideal.

Thanks for the replies guys . Yes replaced the crankshaft , but kept the former gears as they werent that worn and didnt realise they were matched . . Guess whilst the front end is still unbuttoned I'll go and replace them .

If they are ok…..no need to replace them. Changing the crank cannot change the gear lash.
