Lest we forget indeed. I think most of the ANZACS would be horrified at the commercialisation of the service I attended at Camden - Sponsors on a huge LED screen and mentioned in the service. Sponsoring ANZAC day, what as a nation have we become?

Sponsoring ANZAC day, what as a nation have we become? That’s not good Andy! but mate! as a nation when the chips are down we are strong and loyal and always will be, we can’t be any other way, and we prove that time and time again. Sadly all it takes is a few assholes to stuff it up occasionally. Huge screens with sponsorship plastered all over it during an Anzac Day Service!….”Jesus Wept” Wheels.

"Huge screens with sponsorship plastered all over it during an Anzac Day Service!….”Jesus Wept”" If I may be more blunt, as the young folk say these days, WTF??

WTF indeed. May have had something to do with Angus Taylor and Mark Latham turning up to wave their political flags? It was a scripted and choreographed production with a full technical team hidden in a tent behind the big screen, the Air Force Cadets did the Catafalque party and their commander was wired for sound... that was another WTF moment. I had half a mind to talk to the RSL idiot and remind him that standing at rest on arms reversed with an SMLE for an hour and a half in the cold was difficult for a fully grown man let alone a 14 year old cadet - to their credit no one faltered. Having done plenty of full dress dawn services I know what it is like when the officials drone on.
The one redeeming fact was that the turnout was amazing. I went down to see an old Air Force mate who has been going there for the last 20 something years and he has never seen a crowd like it. Thought it was around the 10K plus size given the service was in a field and there were more on the road near the actual cenotaph. He also said it was usually a small gathering around the cenotaph and normally lasted 30 mins max. Shows what happens when the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction turns up.
Next year I will be at the local one. I know for a fact that the Killabakh Hall can't afford to put on a circus.

WTF is a much less offensive way of putting it. Particularly so close to Easter. Quote (Wikipedia)…. In some places in the English-speaking world, including Great Britain, Ireland (particularly Dublin and Belfast) and Australia, the phrase “Jesus wept” is a mild expletive spoken when something goes wrong or to express incredulity. Unquote…. So why the offensive bit?….WTF (what the fuck) isn’t? give me a break!
