Just curious, How much clearance between your tyre and the bolt to the mudguard at the rear bracket?

Did it migrate past the drilled stop hole? did you get a panel shop to look at it? If others are suffering too then it might be something to keep an eye on. What year?

Just curious, How much clearance between your tyre and the bolt to the mudguard at the rear bracket? Approximately 50mm clearance. Bracket cracked first then started a propagation crack /split across the top of the mudguard. Stop drilled but vibration continued the crack past the stop. 100mph tape prevented further vibration cracking, tape good for about a year.

Yep sure did, kept propagating until the tape reduced the vibration. Panel shop looked at it, but weren’t really interested as job too small, so jacked the price up. The guard had a few other dents from previous “learning experiences” so I decided to order a new one. Unpainted was on hand at Uralla, however cost of spraying exceeded the price of a new one. Irbit ran a special order for LH guard & spray in the correct colour, lead time 5 months……… then Ukraine interfered. 2016 ranger. I’m no structural engineer but I suspect all road induced wobble on the guard is borne by the rear mounting bracket, a quick glance when riding rough road shows it. Front of guard is held by bracket and attached to the step, so very little chance of movement. Andy I agree and I would hazard a guess that for those of us who do the dirt; bracket crack would be fairly common?

G’day Lee, looks interesting. Strengthener or luggage rack or both?
