Hi all Getting up to 10k service , the final drive needs to come off so I can grease the drive shaft splines. Am I correct that it's just two nuts to remove and the final drive should come off ? I havent started on it yet , but looks like it's just two Nylocks holding it on ?
I remember pulling each bolt on the final drive and putting loctite on them , but havent had the final drive off yet.
Looks like an easy job ?

I did this a while ago but just recently I filled the rubber boot, that seals the spline, with grease. It should migrate to the spline . Saves disturbing the final drive and also some work. What do people think of my short cut? Am I just lazy?..................Ian

Ian, we would never call you lazy. At least, not without a preceding expletive. 😇
Migration would depend on the viscosity of the grease you applied.

You might want to slide the boot down the shaft and mark the shaft and the spline end, regardless of weather it is in phase or not it is what you are used to. Putting it back together the same way you pulled it apart is always a good idea.
( Unless OOral finally managed to get the bloody thing aligned properly? )

OK thanks guys. I have been defeated It just wouldnt budge , there was loctite on the studs etc , I gave the studs a good whack via a block of wood , but no go. I was worried I'd do more harm then good , so I've done the "lazy" fill the rubber boot with grease job for now and I'll think about another attempt.

Wow……not good to hit the studs. You can easily knock them into the housing and lose the press fit… It is actually good that the FD is tight in the swingarm because they crack housings if they can move with the torque.
So, just asking……….you did remove the wheel first, didn’t you? 😂😂😂

But I decided that it wasnt going to come off without some major effort , or leverage ? I think it must be press fitted on or something ?

I've read about the final drive moving in the swingarm. Is it particular year models that have the problem. Or the 2wd models with a different setup. My 2010 locates with no movement. A light grease and the heat generated would help also............Ian
