Hi all, I'm trying to grease the nipple that is buried in the uni joint at the rear wheel. The nipple is a 45 degree version, so it points outward, however the fitting on my grease gun is too big to get in past the cheeks of the joint. My fitting is 14.2mm dia, and it seems that the gap on the joint is about 12mm. What does everybody else use to get grease in there, or is it a case of pull everything apart?? It's a 20 Ranger, 1 wheel drive.
Thanks, Mick

I use one of these > Click to go to website < it is a Toledo recessed adapter. Some guys use a needle point. I used to be able to use a standard applicator when the drive was out, but the most recent Uni I got from Ural has a different angle and nipple size meaning even with the drive out and the joint bent open I can't get a standard applicator on it. So the recessed adaptor has paid for itself already.

Thank you!
I'll try that!

I’ve tried a couple of methods. The McNaught needle KZD was too thick and grease spilled, although others swear by it. Ground down a standard coupler, managed to get into the sidecar drive inboard uni, but not the outboard one. Tried a .8mm needle from Repco too, but that was too flimsy.
When it’s time to change them I’ll get new ones with the nipple on the end, and make sure I grease the final drive uni when the wheel is out.
