A little info on the RH Cylinder heat sensor. But a question first. Does the sensor measure head or cylinder temperature? Does it also sense pinging or pre detonation?
From what I found on the SS page. At or above 170c a Mil light will display reflecting a 35 Blink Code/ po 298 Fault Code. This will be followed by performance being reduced.This is for all post 2019 models. Stopping and letting engine cool results in the mil light going out. But I suspect it still lives in the ecu memory. I note also that around the same time Keihin removed the sensor from the LH cylinder.

The sensor is only on the right hand Cylinder HEAD. Just below the throttle body. Not fitted to the Cylinder as per the original post. For interest I did a little test this morning. Fitted up my OBD2 scan tool prior to startup. The aim being to watch at what temperature the Cat valve opens. Which happens to be 80 degrees C. I also reconfigured my phone screen to stay active whilst the phone is on charge. Now I can run the OBD2 live to the phone, monitoring RPM and Cylinder Head Temperature as I ride. Before it would turn off after 10 min and I would loose the OBD2 connection. I just need an oil temp guage now.

H, you just need to add one wire and the tachometer in the speedo will operate. Grey wire from speedo to coil.

Depending on where you were in the rev range. I found it was also interfering with the back lighting. (occasionally flashing red) only noticed at night. Indicated revs through the gears were more than it seemed as each gear change neared. So, ripped it out. (It was installed using the instruction from David @ Ural IMZ 10 wraps of wire and close to the coil.) The Ural Official OBD2 had dropped in price so I jumped for that. Thanks anyway .

You need to hard wire to coil pulse. HT wrapping is suspect.

For what it is worth haitch, I picked up a very cheap and simple tach that turned out to be surprisingly accurate compared to OBDWiz. Info here > Post< Battery still going strong. Wonder why they decided to measure one cylinder only?

Wonder why they decided to measure one cylinder only? Thanks Andy. Not overly concerned about the tach. But, the temp sensor on a 2022, with its known temperature issues, for me is a necessity. Keihin removed it from the left as I guess they figured the right would run hottest, being the one with most interupted air flow cos the sidecar was on the right side. For us though, its the wrong side, as our chair is on the left. Sadly,Ural didn't move the sensor or add another to the left when the lefty design came about. Perhaps cost was a factor. In the longer term. I may go for a weatherproof tach like yours, as my phone it not waterproof either.

The temp sensor has only one real operative function. It informs the ecu that the engine is cold for fuel mixture enrichment during starting and warm up. There are a few but not too many engines that I can think of that have more than one engine temp sensor.
Of course, it can be handy having each cylinder temp. for knowing what is going on if things are not normal.

Not sure I understand what you just said. But I conjured another solution. Thanks anyway. H, the ecu pulses the low voltage side of the coil. When you tap into that (hard wire) you get the best consistent signal. Your OBD is using the same pulse signal.
