Been looking at their web page with a view to fitting 1 or 2 onto "Ruby" I did a web search on here for some info and picked up what wheels and Tvan had done. I noted wheels uses fuel and water in the 3.8 Litre size and mounted on the left front of the chair.
Tvan mounted a Rotopax water container back where the shovel was . Left side rear on the chair. Mate, if you are still tuned in. What size was that container??
Is anyone else using them and willing to provide any insights which would be appreciatted.
I have been looking at the load dynamics, specifically regarding fitment "outside the triangle" ie at the front as wheels has done. Also wondering if a stacked pair can be fitted where Tvan mounted his. Or perhaps the sidecar lighting may be obscured.
Opinions please and first hand experience welcome.
Cheers. Haitch

Hi Haitch,
Tvan's Rotopax is 3.8 liter. Size wise it is 340mm*230mm*85mm.
I think if you wanted to double stack at the rear, outside, they would need to be mounted a fair way back, so as the clear the SC mudguard, and maybe a bit lower to clear the spare wheel. There is probably enough space the not interfere with the SC tail light. And this would put 7kg of slopping water a long way towards the rear, and further outside the triangle.
Also double stacking might put a fair load onto the mounting pin thing that holds the bottle onto the bike.
Do you have a jerry can for fuel?
An extra water bottle on the front RHS of the chair seems to be the go.
Cheers
Mick

Forward on the inboard sidecar + another diagonally opposite on the rear. Seems like a plan. My logic for extra fuel above what I have, is mainly fuelled (excuse pun) by the 2022 needing a diet of 98RON. Not available at some of the independant stations or smaller communities.

I am also experimenting with loading. Can't help with rotopax, that was a bit above my budget. I went with a diy solution, mounting 10 liter water container. That rack - see pic can also be used to load other stuff. We have recently done the first camping trip 2-up and having the water mounted in this position worked really well. It gave me much better control over the front wheel especially steep gravel roads. Went to Stix Valley and Scott's Peak Dam, about 100km of roughish gravel roads. Next thing is to get better suspension adjustements. I was on the 2nd hardest setting on the chair but it wasn't quite enough. Going for another trip in a few days and I will experiment more.

Thanks for your insights. Love your rig colour scheme. Also a big tick for your diy water container mount. It seems we agree on using that location. Do you have the 10lt jerry at the rear?. Also, is anything mounted where the shovel is/was??

If you have the Sachs shocks on anything but minimum preload you have too much. With a passenger on board try standing on the step and bouncing…..very little suspension movement.
I have the HCS shocks which are considerably softer and I have also wound off a bit of preload from the factory setting…..huge improvement over the Sachs. I have travelled 150000km on Sachs shocks all over Australia. They are bullet proof but you can have a better ride.

Fuel……I have 450km fuel range without topping up. Plumbed the 10lt Gerry into the vent line. Sealed cap on tank and fitted vent in gerry. Atmospheric does the work ( Professor Sumner Miller told me so ). 👍👍🤣

I also have the standard Jerry can, Haitch. And the shovel is still the shovel. I try to reduce weight as much as possible in that area.
Lee, maybe im missing something. I still consider myself a greenhorn on this thing. I had chair preload on second setting with the fully loaded bike. That was sort of okay on bitumen, but once on gravel the right hand corners became very hairy, felt more like a boat. I then went to 4th position which was a considerable improvement. Also my wife said the ride was way more comfortable.
While we had a good load I don't think we were overloaded and my wife is definitely not heavy.
I haven't tried the standing on step all loaded, but there is probably already 20mm sag. Will try in next few days.
Any suggestions are much appreciated
