Hi All. been trying to change my drive wheel but I cant get the axel to move at all. Don't want to get the sledge hammer out. Its one wheel drive so should not be a big issue. Its been approx 8 years since the wheel was last off. (6 years spent sitting in a shed poor thing) so could just be corroded. Been operating just fine though.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Axle nut off. Pinch bolt loose. Block of hardwood and use the sledge hammer. OR…..lengthy lever through the hole in left end of axle ….and rotate

Probably corrosion. Drown it with WD40 or a 50-50 mix of auto trans fluid and acetone. The 2nd option is the best rust cracker. Let soak and then try to turn the axle with a bar through the hole.

As Lee said, if you can get the axle to rotate using a large drift through the hole at the left end then you are almost there. You can also try loosening the Final Drive attachment bolts if you haven't already and maybe also the swing arm bolts. For some reason my 2015 likes the swing arm bolts backed off and this makes removing and replacing the axle easier.

Hi All thanks for the suggestions. Backing off the final drive mounting bolts and a longer bar to twist the Axcel have worked a treat. After 35 years working as an aircraft maintenance eng I just can't do the sledgehammer. Thanks all

Great news, There are plenty of posts here about the axle not lining up when you go to put it back in that you can use for reference when putting it back together. Having the FD nuts on, but not torqued, seems to help. What ever you used to rotate the axle needs to be in your mobile tool kit
