Lee. A question from the gallery re setup.
I understand the need to level the SC fore and aft, but did NOT connect that with camber in the SC wheel.
Question. Assuming the entire outfit is sitting flat and level. How do you check the SC is level fore and aft, and does achieving that, automatically set camber to the vertical, neutral position? OR adjust till the SC wheel is plumb and measures vertical at the SC Disc for example.

H, fore and aft matters not. But adjusting either front or rear mounting height will alter sc camber and toe…. The entire sc frame is just a normal A arm type car suspension unit but without the movement when the adjusters are all locked up.
when all is set, the only thing that changes with load is bike lean..

Thanks. I measured the change last time and the lean out increases. Adding my passenger straightens it up again. Note. The use of HCS shocks and their softer top end may also change the lean characteristics at rest.

...and tyre wear 😁....there are one or two things to think about for sure, as we have rested our centre case mount on the universal/driveshaft protector we will now have to wait to get to an engineering shop to chop and remount a coupla brackets when we make our adjustments.
In between I bought a tape measure today so I can check everything I now know 😁 when we get to Melbourne tomorrow afty.
Cheers Andi

In between I bought a tape measure today so I can check everything I now know 😁 when we get to Melbourne tomorrow afty. Cheers Andi We attacked Skippy yesterday. As I recall, we measured camber at -2.9 degrees on the SC wheel (in at top) to start. Toe in was about 10mm. Clearance under the fins on the left pot was a finger+😁 We adjusted that back to about 3mm. Loosening all retraints and uncoupling the SC diagonal braces. This gave us about 1.5 degrees lean in at the top of the SC Wheel All this is fully unloaded. Lean out on the pusher is now very close to zero. We tighted diagonals and checked toe in and it was still excessive. Tighted the rear end knuckle thingy. Firmed up the clamps under the uni guard. Stuck bar in the front and levered the SC across so we measured about 6mm toe in. Sinched it all up. With LO still at near zero. Loading up gear + riders and monkey left us in a fairly good position. LO increased with load. SC camber went more vertical, and toe in decreased a bit more. All of the this will be very dynamic as loads vary and road conditions change. BUT, we are pretty sure it is way better than when we started. Perhaps others might benefit from our experiments. Hope so. Thanks Andi for the chance to mess with Skippy before Ruby 🤣🤣👍👍 Feel free to chime in Andi. My aging grey matter fails me more often these days.

Evening gents Todays ride took us from Devonport to Smithton, we still had no SC brakes to speak of so it was an interesting and funny ride Yuri had put our brake actuator lever very wrong (see pic) which H and I spotted, we did correct it but one spline too far, today at Smithton once we set up the tent I set too and set it up one spline forward, now the SC and the rear are set pretty close, tomorrow on our exploratory rides I will dial them in to balance them. The geo changes are notable although the front mount under the cylinder head has moved down a few mm, I checked the bolt it is as tight as so I will keep an eye on it. For the next few days I will let the tyres settle in/reshape to the changed geos and do a check measure but at present she is pretty good and now handling like a drunk supermarket trolly rather than a stoned one.
If any of you fello uralheads get an opportunity to get bikes side by side in a workshop situ I believe it is worth while given the unique nature of these rusky lustys just to compare and adjust to what works better. Again thanks H, absolutely mint, all those nasty things a said about you I didn’t mean Cheers Andi
Too hot ruskys
The original lever position too far forward with the adjuster bar on a bad angle against the piston.
Works for me, on the Spirit Of Tasmania

Do not understand why that front knuckle thingie is moving!!!?? Are the marks I put on it changed, or is there just a gap increase between the fins and the knuckle thingie?? Perhaps, check your engine bolts.

Let me know when you Kiwi's get down to the Huon Valley and we'll organize something. You may not need it, but I also have a well equipped shed if there are repairs or improvements to be done. Just don't ask me about alignment. Have never touched it on ours..., but I have become a bit of an expert on brakes.

Tomorrow in the light of day I will go to the underworld of Скиппи, grab a Gin and consider life for a while, Lee, any input as to what the muppet show might be doin wrong?
H is extremely thorough as you know and explores every angle very well so this one has me beat.
Everything else is saweet

Never had one come loose. Usually the opposite……seized and difficult to adjust.
