Hopefully the 2022 is an improved version. The bracket is pretty dodgy , I think part of it is welded to the guard. will have a better look tomorrow. Take some photos. OK Keith. Here are the photos of my rear bracket. Sadly, I think it is the same as yours. Does your mounting have 3 attachment points? One at the very front near the swing arm, one in front of the SC axle and the busted one aft of the axle?? It looks like the fracture at the mudguard itself requires some giant reinforcing plates welding on to it both inside and out to spread the load should the bolts come loose. But, as you say if the nut and bolt were done up?? Points to the root cause being bracket failure first. You don't own a MIG welder do you?? OR know someone who is handy that way? Good stuff ,thanks. Yeah it's the same three mounting points. Ive made a quick replacement bracket ,I think I'll have to add a plate on the point where the fender itself has started to crack at the rear mounting point. I'm pretty sure I checked the bolts recently due to some noise and the bolt at the front of the fender was loose , but all the others were tight. I didnt realise the bracket had snapped , just bad luck.

This will give you an idea of my modification…. 17000km. Birdsville track up to the gulf country and many, many other corrugated roads in 4 states and a territory………no cracks.

Good idea , I dont have the tools for that job , but I will make a plate to cover the cracked part of the fender , but it's patched up for now , little overnight trip tmrw will test it out.

What may not be apparent in Lee's modification is tbe he has created 2 extra supports for the mudguard and triangulated the whole affair, by extending the arms down at front and back to pick up both front and rear mudguard bolts. Same as Ural have now done by introducing their "heavy duty mudguard rack" Which is the basis for my new design. See my earlier post on that.
