I see that Surfside Motorcycles on the northern beaches of Sydney is now listed as a dealer. It looks like the Southern Highlands contact has dropped off the list. This could be good news for people needing a new bike or service in NSW.
Has anyone dealt with Surfside Motorcycles? I spoke to the owner about a racing sidecar for sale a few years ago. He seemed very helpful. I would think someone who has raced outfits would know how to set them up.

Hi, I've dealt with them, they are OK! They are also in the next suburb.
What's happening with Gasoline motorcycles?
Cheers

I know Trevor at Surfside and go on some of their club rides. Service can be very good, or it can be not so good. Individual stories are better over a coffee, not here. They've relinquished their Enfield dealership, so may now have room for Urals. Good news!
I've also dealt with Gasolene, before, and just after I picked up my Ural from Highland's Classics. I won't go into details about these two encounters here either, but Mat at Ural Australia did all that was necessary, even though I had to ride the bike to Uralla to get it done. Something I shouldn't have had to do if the aforementioned two dealers were a bit more accommodating.

Thanks for your reply Mick. You are very diplomatic in your wording. I am sure we will get a more professional service from Surfside. Is there a particular mechanic (for Urals) that would be good to ask for at Surfside?

So all my experience with Surfside is purely anecdotal and based on my visits there for rides and other events and chatting to people who bring their bikes to us. That being said, their service should be great for Urals, as they're really simple to service and maintain. I doubt Ural would have appointed them if they didn't prove their mettle.

...I doubt Ural would have appointed them if they didn't prove their mettle. A few years ago stranded with a very noisy engine in Coffs Harbour, I rang the 'Approved Service Center' close by and asked if they could have a look. The guy was really nice, but quick to point out that he was listed because John asked him to do warranty work on a 2012 model that had a crank failure. He hadn't touched one since and really wasn't all that keen on touching one again. Maybe things have changed, but the word approved meant nothing a few years back. It just meant they were willing to look at a Ural and even these days, with all the improvements, mechanics are few and far between. Great ones just don't exist. Happy to be proven wrong.
