It has been said that we should have a NSW version of VASTY. I'm not good with words to jump in and say what you think. Say it was to happen about March/April 2016 (because we already have VASTY for next year) the weather won't be cold yet. Start around Merimbula. Merimbula to Dalgety - scenic sealed ride or adventurous route via McKillops Bridge. Tonnes of stuff to do around the Snowys. Dalgety to Tumbarumba - quite a few options. Thoughts

Thanks Ross. I reckon it should start Tuesday 15 March 2016, the day after the Monday public holiday. Same reasoning as this year and 2015; following immediately the Cold Flame Rally in the Barry Way. I suggest we keep it in the area between Cootamundra east to the coast, Cootamundra south to the border. Accommodation: VASTy/ NASTy attracts people who don't usually attend typical rallies. We need a mix to cater for tents, cabins & caravan/motorhomes. Reasonable size towns with a suitable caravan park work well. If we keep the format of 3 nights in each of 4 towns we just need to find 4 towns an easy day's ride apart with a decent caravan park in areas we want to spend two days exploring.

Dalgety and Tumbarumba both have nice caravan parks.
Possibly throw in Khancoben, or even Tintaldra.
Junee might be pushing the boundary but it has the chocolate factory next to the caravan park in it's favour. Oh, and old train stuff.

We tend to stay in towns with supermarkets and shops etc . How about Jindabyne, Braidwood, Tumut and Khancoban in that order? Or Eden, Cooma, Batlow, Braidwood? Or Khancoban, Cootamundra, Braidwood? To get better facilities for 3 nights we could "cheat" and stay stay in Corryong instead of Khancoban.

Have now checked 2016 Easter. If NASTy starts 15th after Cold Flame it will end Easter Sunday 27th. We may have to start a week earlier and miss the rally. Running NASTy from Monday 29 Feb to Sat 12 March would allow for Cold Flame, but it's probably too close to summer.

That'd be ok though... otherwise we're looking at starting about the 22nd April if we don't want to tangle with school holidays.

Easter is OK with me also, but I reckon it will be an issue for some of the others. Accommodation and general travel is severely compromised during the busy Easter period, and I prefer to travel, whenever possible, without crowds and congestion.
Maybe the better solution is to miss the Cold Flame and run NASTy from Tuesday 8th to Sunday 20th. My reasoning is that only a few will probably be wanting to do the Cold Flame and we really should look to making the timing work for the majority.
